Hi John - it’s Eric Holder. I’ll get straight to the point: our democracy is on the ballot next week.

Across the nation, Republicans who denied the results of the last election are vying to become Secretary of State so they can influence the results of the next one.

If any of these election deniers win, they’ll be the top election official who will oversee election laws and make decisions about when, where, and how folks vote. They could even decide if they would certify (or not) the results of the 2024 election in their state.

It’s clear, John: Republicans are trying to undermine elections from the inside, with elected officials who are willing to tilt the scales in their favor – or even throw out the results of free and fair elections.

We can’t let them take away our voices…. If we want to defend our democracy, we must preserve access to the ballot box and defeat anti-democracy candidates.

My friends at The Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS) are leading the effort to elect candidates who will follow the rule of law, expand voting rights, and protect our democracy - but with Election Day fast approaching, we need your help more than ever.
