While America has elected a bisexual governor (Oregon Governor Kate Brown) and a gay Governor (Colorado Governor Jared Polis), it has yet to elect a lesbian governor [[link removed]] . This year, it could elect TWO: Maura Healey [[link removed]] , running in Massachusetts, and Tina Kotek [[link removed]] , running in Oregon.
Will at-risk LGBTQ Congressional incumbents win their close races?

Will a record number of trans and nonbinary candidates win?
In 2022, 72 out trans and nonbinary people ran for office [[link removed]] , up from 52 in 2020. In New Hampshire, Spotlight candidate James Roesener [[link removed]] would be the first trans man ever elected to a state legislature. In Minnesota, Spotlight candidate Leigh Finke [[link removed]] would be the first trans person elected to the state legislature. In Montana, which passed an anti-trans bill in 2021, Spotlight candidate Zooey Zephyr [[link removed]] would be the first trans person elected to the Montana state legislature while SJ Howell [[link removed]] would be the first non-binary person elected to the Montana state legislature. 4. New Lows: Trans Kids Targeted in New Bigoted Ads
Bigots have made trans kids the center of their hate campaign [[link removed]] against the LGBTQ community this year. Unpreceded attacks against trans kids have been on the rise [[link removed]] as more states continue to pass cruel legislation. We must elect officials who will protect trans rights and let trans kids go back to just being kids. 5. Abortion is on the Ballot in Nebraska
With neighboring states taking away the right to choose, Nebraska is vital in the fight for reproductive freedoms. [[link removed]] Spotlight candidate John Fredrickson is a champion for reproductive rights, [[link removed]] while his opponent Stu Dornan is openly anti-choice. [[link removed]] In Nebraska and everywhere, November is the time to make your voice heard – abortion is on the line.

As the Election nears, extremist attacks are on the rise. [[link removed]] Attacks like this fuel hate, creating a dangerous environment where extremists feel empowered and emboldened.

These same extremists call our elections into question and sow doubt in our democracy, a tactic they've already begun [[link removed]] before many have even cast their vote.
