Hey John,
As the clock ticks toward midnight tonight, we won’t only be celebrating the end of 2019. We’re marking the end of an entire decade.
And yes, it’s been a crazy one.
I joined the Working Families Party back in 2008 as a canvasser in NYC. And as I look back now, it’s amazing to see how our party has persevered and thrived through the ups and downs of this decade that’s about to end tonight.
But maybe the most inspiring development of the last ten years has been the incredible growth of people-powered movements — from Occupy to the Movement for Black Lives, from striking teachers in red states to the fight for $15, from the immigrant rights movement to the resistance to Trump’s first years in office — that have moved from the streets, to the ballot box, and even into the halls of political power.
At the Working Families Party, we work every day to bring the power of these movements to the ballot box and into the halls of power. And we absolutely depend on your donations this time of year in order to keep doing it.
So before you get ready to celebrate on New Years’ Eve, I have one quick ask: Will you make an end-of-year contribution to WFP right now? Our team has set a big goal of $140,000 before midnight — and if you give now your donation will be matched so it will count 2-for-1.

Through my work with the Working Families Party and as an activist, I’ve been honored to have a front-row seat to many historic moments over the last ten years.
Thanks to this people-power, ideas that were once considered completely out of bounds at the beginning of this decade — like a wealth tax on billionaires, or an end to mass incarceration, or the abolishment of ICE — are at the center of our national debate.
And policies to help millions of working families — like a $15 minimum wage, paid sick days, affordable housing, support for public schools, and landmark climate protections — have become a reality in many states and communities.
In 2020, we want to elect even more candidates who come from these movements, have stood with these movements, and will fight for these movements even when the going gets tough.
If that’s what you want to see too, please make a MATCHED end-of-year contribution to WFP before our big 12/31 deadline. We work every day to bring this people power to the ballot box and into the halls of power, and we depend on your donations this time of year in order to do it.
In solidarity,
Nelini Stamp
