17,359 EDF members have risen to the challenge and donated more than $3.16 million in the last month — that’s more than we raised in the first
eight months of 2019 put together!
But 2020 will be the most consequential year for our environment, and we need everyone to pitch in.
It’s not too late to make your own contribution and have your gift go up to four times further than any other time of year.
Since President Trump took office almost three years ago, we’ve had to fight back more attacks on our core environmental protections than ever.
Despite the seemingly endless battles we’ve fought just to hold onto progress we’d already made, we haven’t given up hope to keep moving forward.
Against all odds, your support and advocacy has delivered key victories this year for clean air, healthy ecosystems and a safer climate future.
And now, watching thousands of new members make their first-ever gift to charity this holiday season, and thousands more increase their commitment, I know that we have the collective power to make even more progress in 2020.
We’ll keep supporting the U.S. cities, states and businesses who have pledged to meet the commitments we made in the Paris Climate Agreement — in spite of Trump’s reckless decision to withdraw and leave the U.S. standing alone as the sole country in the world unwilling to address climate change.
We’ll keep working with unlikely conservation allies like farmers and ranchers to protect millions of acres of habitat for threatened wildlife like the monarch butterfly.
And we’ll keep partnering with retailers like Walmart to reduce a gigaton (1 billion tons!) of climate pollution from its supply chain and remove toxic chemicals from the products on its shelves.
