We knew Amanda Chase was an anti-choice extremist, with a tentative grasp (at best) on the U.S. Constitution, but now she’s really outdone herself. She announced on YouTube this week that she plans to introduce legislation banning abortion next session, based on the 14th Amendment.

We’re not legal scholars, but clearly, neither is Amanda. She claims the 14th Amendment’s guarantee of the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness applies equally to both born and “pre-born” people.

John, this is a dystopian picture of what is coming if we don't expand our Democratic Senate majority next year. Gov. Youngkin already told the media that he would sign any abortion ban that passes through the legislature, and we need to make sure this one never sees the light of day. Amanda and her allies are still celebrating the fall of Roe v. Wade and are chomping at the bit to pass legislation sweeping away our reproductive rights for good. Her reasoning may be laughable, but this is not a joke. She is a dangerous person, and her proposed bill spells disaster for Virginia women.

John, Amanda is beyond reason, but Virginians know this cannot pass in our legislature. That’s why we’re working so hard to get a jump start on our Democratic victory in 2023. We need to deliver a pro-choice majority to the Senate, to reflect the pro-choice majority in our Commonwealth.
