Dear Friend,

Whether it’s President Biden falsely claiming that Republicans will “make inflation worse” or former President Barack Obama traveling to the Midwest to say that Republicans are “not interested in solving problems,” I want to set the record straight.

The only party with a plan is the Republican Party.

In September, Republicans in Congress unveiled our Commitment to America to start delivering results to the American people on day one of the new Congress.

Built on four pillars, Republicans vow to create an economy that’s strong, a nation that’s safe, a future that’s built on freedom, and a government that’s accountable.

An economy that’s strong: It’s no secret that America’s economy is underwater. President Biden and Speaker Pelosi’s trillion-dollar spending bonanza has led to the highest inflation in 40 years, soaring grocery prices, and all-time high energy costs. Thankfully, with the right party at the wheel, inflation can be tamed. That starts by unleashing American energy, an easy solution to help lower energy costs for Americans, and especially Wisconsinites, as winter nears. It also starts with getting Congress back to balancing our budget, just as Wisconsin families must do every single day. Lastly, we must end our dependence on Communist China by strengthening our own supply chain and holding them accountable for their widespread theft of U.S. intellectual property, academic and economic espionage, the cover-up of COVID-19, and gross human rights abuses.

A nation that’s safe: Under President Biden, more than 4.7 million illegal immigrants have crossed the border. He’s broken the record for the most illegal immigrants and suspected terrorists to cross our southern border; he’s recorded the most migrant deaths in a single year; and he’s allowed dangerous cartels to unleash thousands of pounds of deadly fentanyl into our communities. While Joe Biden puts our national security at risk with his wide-open southern border, Democrats have simultaneously supported defunding the police, soft-on-crime policies, and reckless bail reform efforts, leaving Americans with an unprecedented crime wave. On the border, Republicans plan to finish the border wall, reinstate ‘Remain in Mexico,' and end the failed policy of ‘catch and release.’ To make America’s streets safe again, we must prioritize the rights of law-abiding citizens, victims, and our dedicated cops, hold rogue prosecutors accountable, and put depraved career predators where they belong: Behind bars.

A future that’s built on freedom: It’s past time to give parents a voice in their kid’s education and ensure every student can succeed through educational freedom. Amid historic learning loss due to Democrat-led school closures and mask mandates, children should be spending more time on reading, writing, and arithmetic and less time on radical gender ideology, drag shows, and CRT. We must also ensure healthcare freedom by lowering prices through transparency, choice, and competition. The Lower Costs More Cures Act will help make drugs more affordable for all patients without increasing government controls that put patient access and care at risk.

A government that’s accountable: Republicans want a government that will work for you – not a government that will come after you. In the past year, Democrats have come after our First Amendment rights, our right to keep and bear arms, and hired 87,000 new IRS agents to come after you. Republicans will fight to preserve our freedoms, hold the Biden administration accountable, and restore the people’s voice. Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee are already reining in the Biden administration's gross abuse of power by outlining the politicization of the FBI and Justice Department. From the Department of Justice to the FBI to holding Secretary Mayorkas responsible for the southern border invasion to holding Big Tech accountable, as a member of the House Judiciary Committee, I can tell you we are ready to get to work.

This past week Joe Biden gave another tone-deaf, twenty-minute speech to midterms voters, and not once did he mention crime, inflation, gas prices, the southern border, fentanyl overdoses, or education.

These are the issues Americans care about, and Republicans are ready to tackle them for the American people.

We have a lot more to tell you in this week's edition. We will be back in two weeks with another Telegram. Thanks again for starting off your weekend with us and enjoy the Veterans Day holiday!

Sincerely,

THANK YOU, Veterans!
Generations of veterans have answered the call to defend our homeland so we may enjoy the freedoms, way of life, and nation we call home today. It is because of them that we are able to live in the freest Republic in the world. These real-life heroes remind us not just on Veterans Day, but every day, why America is and will always be the nation of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. As next Friday is Veterans Day, let us come together as one, to honor, remember, and never forget the dedication and courage it takes to become a veteran. Their service doesn’t end when the war ends; our veterans carry the burden of war with them for the rest of their lives. While we can never fully repay them for their sacrifice, we, as a nation, can show our gratitude by coming together to say two words and eight letters. To all the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen, and their loved ones, THANK YOU.

Biden’s border disorder: Migration or invasion?
What do you call it when millions of foreigners flood across your sovereign border uninvited? What if those same people show up waving the flag of a foreign nation and stage a coordinated assault on the men and women protecting that border? Is it “immigration,” or is it an invasion? These aren’t just hypothetical questions. It actually happened this week when a “massive group” of illegal aliens “crossed into the U.S. waving a large Venezuelan flag and…attacked Border Patrol agents.” The situation got so out of control that Border Patrol agents had to initiate “crowd control measures” and use “pepper-ball systems” to disperse the dangerous mob. You can watch the stunning video of the encounter for yourself here. Incidents like these are shocking, but not surprising. They are a direct result of President Biden’s open-borders policies, which have fueled back-to-back, record-breaking years for illegal immigration and drug smuggling. The policies have become so lax that they have even emboldened a record number of suspected terrorists to try and slip into our country this year. Enough is enough. It’s time to end the chaos at our southern border and protect American communities by enforcing our immigration laws.

Systematically robbing childhood innocence?
As Telegram readers know, during the past few years we’ve seen a disturbing rise in calls to normalize the sexualization of children. Kids across America are increasingly being targeted for sexual messages, images, and themes at younger ages. Sometimes, it's even supported by taxpayer dollars through government-led initiatives. This year, the Biden administration began making a coordinated effort to coerce and force schools into promoting woke transgender ideology to kids. First, the Department of Education released a rule to gut Title IX protections for girls. Their new rule redefined “sex” to include gender identity, sex stereotypes, and sexual orientation – allowing biological males who identify as female to access girls’ bathrooms, locker rooms, showers, and sports. Next, the Department of Agriculture announced they’d withhold federal funding for school lunch programs if a school failed to abide by Biden’s new woke policies. Then, the Department of Health allocated $85 million for grants to schools that are willing to challenge the “normative beliefs” about sexuality and gender identity. And now, it’s come to light that under President Biden the Department of Defense’s school libraries for military children are filled with jarring, pornographic content. I’ve signed on to a number of bills, including the Stop the Sexualization of Children Act, aimed at preventing the use of federal funds for sexual-oriented programs, events, or literature. Unfortunately, at the state level, it appears as if Governor Evers is following Biden’s lead as the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction was recently in the spotlight after the revelation that his statewide education agency has been actively promoting raunchy sex education materials for children as young as three.

Trade professionals now hiring
The Home Depot recently launched a new free platform called Path to Pro for those seeking trade professions in the home improvement and construction industries. Not only does this marketplace provide a place for tradesmen to find work, but it also offers free training programs to prepare individuals for a job in the industry. It’s as easy as creating a profile and uploading your resume to get connected with Home Depot Pro customers who are looking to hire in your area. With over 91,000 Wisconsin-based pros enrolled in the Path to Pro Network, this is a useful platform for those who are struggling to find employment near them. Standing up for parental rights
Speaking of worrisome trends, we’ve also witnessed a growing effort by the left to shut parents out of their children’s education. From President Biden's Justice Department (DOJ) classifying parents who speak out at school board meetings as ‘domestic terrorists' to politicians in the Wisconsin State Assembly stating that if parents want to "have a say" in their child's education that they should send them to a private school and pay for it out of their family budget, Democrats have sought to keep parents in the dark. That’s why earlier this session I signed on to the Parents Bill of Rights Act, which would protect parents’ rights to know what their children are being taught. However, it is still deeply concerning that our federal agencies are being used as a way of targeting concerned parents. For far too long the Biden administration has weaponized the DOJ and the FBI, to administer a two-tier justice system that goes after their political opponents as well as any American that dares to disagree with their agenda – shattering public confidence in the equal application of justice. As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, I remain committed to getting to the bottom of these concerns and holding those responsible accountable for their actions. Today, House Judiciary Republican’s released a report documenting the politicization and anti-conservative bias in the FBI and DOJ, which an unnamed whistleblower refers to as a “systemic culture of unaccountability” and claims it is full of “rampant corruption, manipulation, and abuse.” You can read that report here.

Recent Legislative Action

Are your tax dollars financing Palestinian terrorism?
It’s a troubling question – and it's why this week I joined Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO-03) and several other lawmakers in sending a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken demanding answers. This summer, the Biden administration sent around a half-billion of your tax dollars to the corrupt Palestinian Authority (PA) – and is set to provide them with another $316 million on top of that this year. That’s a big problem, because the PA finances what is known as a “Martyrs Fund,” a program that hands out awards to the families of Palestinians who launch terrorist attacks against Israelis. In 2018, Congress confronted this problem by approving The Taylor Force Act, which calls for cutting aid to Palestinians until they end these grotesque “pay-to-slay” payments. Far too much of American foreign aid already funds questionable activities that have nothing to do with enhancing U.S. national security. It is especially concerning that American tax dollars would be funneled into the hands of people who are encouraging and rewarding radical Islamic terrorism. You can learn more about this issue and view the text of our letter here.

District Update

The small town of Gordon rallies to keep Post Office open
The Gordon Post Office is one of the most historic postal locations in Northern Wisconsin, and when the United States Postal Service (USPS) first announced its plan to close the Gordon Post Office two weeks ago, I sent a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy urging the USPS to reconsider its decision and find a timely solution to the leasing issue. Like many of you, I had concerns that closing this facility and merging its operations with the Solon Springs Post Office would have a significant impact on the residents of Gordon, Solon Springs, and other surrounding communities. Thankfully, the Gordon community also came together in full force to hold a rally pushing to keep the post office open. Due to these tremendous community efforts, the Postal Service announced earlier this week that the building’s lease has been renewed and the Gordon Post Office will remain open. This great news will allow one of the earliest postal routes in Northern Wisconsin to continue as Gordon's town founders, Antoine and Sarah Gordon, established the post office along “US Postal Route 4444 from the Falls of St. Croix to LaPointe on Madeline Island” on September 12, 1860.

Thank you to Pam Boettcher, Brian Finstad, and all the local community leaders who helped organize the rally to keep the Gordon Post Office open. Because of their efforts, the Gordon Post Office will be staying open.

Congratulations to Merrill’s newest Eagle Scouts
I recently had the honor of attending an Eagle Scout ceremony in Merrill, recognizing eight young leaders who have earned the highest advancement rank of Boy Scouting, the Eagle Scout. Each one of these students had to show hard work, responsibility, and determination to reach this high honor. I hope you will join me in congratulating Dawson Schulz, Christian Candler, Ian Dreikosen, Zoey Dreikosen, Mason Malone, Nathan Brzoznowski, Jordan Brzoznowski, and Nick Tanck on becoming Eagle Scouts! The lessons they learned while working towards this rank will be proven invaluable in their future, and we are lucky to have so many young leaders in our communities. I can’t wait to see the great things they accomplish.

Wisconsin Towns Association
I had a great time attending Polk, Burnett, Chippewa, and Washburn counties Wisconsin Towns Association (WTA) meetings this past week. I was able to hear from town officials about the issues their communities are facing and what I can do in Congress to help them. I also shared my plans for balancing the budget, reducing inflation, and getting America back to energy independence. Thank you to the WTA for creating a platform that brings federal, state, and local officials together.
