Republicans have a plan for a new direction to get our country back on track. It’s called the Commitment to America.

House Republicans are committed to delivering a strong economy, letting you feed your family and heat your home without breaking the bank. The Commitment to America stops wasteful Washington spending to lower the price of groceries, gas, cars and housing and stop the rising national debt.

Under President Biden, the US border experienced a record over 2 million illegal border crossings over 11 months. It also prioritizes cutting the oil-and-gas-permitting process time in half, lowering energy costs and creating good-paying jobs by unleashing reliable, abundant American-made energy. And it modernizes outdated regulations to expand American manufacturing, strengthen our supply chain and end our dependence on China for critical goods.

Of course, we can’t have lasting prosperity without public safety. To secure our southern border, we’ll end catch-and-release loopholes, invest in effective border enforcement and deploy technology to stop the endless flow of illegal immigration and drugs under Biden that’s turned every city into a border city.

To reduce crime, we’ll support 200,000 new law-enforcement officers through hiring bonuses, permanently criminalize illicit fentanyl and crack down on soft-on-crime prosecutors. If woke district attorneys won’t do their job, they don’t deserve another dime of federal money. If successful in the midterm elections, House Republicans plan to enact measures to help Americans’ wallets at the pump.

As we work toward a safe country with a strong economy, we also want a future built on freedom, in which children come first and our constitutional rights are protected. We’ll advance the Parents’ Bill of Rights to deliver real transparency and accountability, recover learning loss from school closures, defend fairness in athletics by ensuring only biological females can compete in girls’ and women’s sports and expand school choice so more than a million more children can attend the school their parents know is right for them. America’s future depends on

excellence in education and respect for dedicated parents and teachers. 

Finally, Republicans will give you a government that’s accountable, without politicians playing by a different set of rules. The Commitment to America champions policies to restore voters’ confidence in Congress, starting with ending Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s proxy-voting abuse of power that allowed 90% of House Democrats to get paid without needing to show up for work. It also restores the House as a check against the Biden administration’s incompetence and abuses of power through vigorous oversight. We’re committed to investigating issues that deserve real scrutiny, including the politicization of science that drove government-mandated lockdowns and school closures, the weaponization of the Department of Justice, the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that created 13 new Gold Star families and potential conflicts of interests connected to the president’s family’s business dealings.

By taking action every day to deliver an economy that’s strong, a nation that’s safe, a future that’s built on freedom and a government that’s accountable, House Republicans will put our nation back on track towards long-term success.

This is our Commitment to America. And in a Congress restored to the American people, we will do everything in our power to make it a reality.

This week, I announced that the Port of Beaumont would receive a $26.4 million grant through the Port Infrastructure Development Program administered by the U.S. Department of Transportation. This $26.4 million grant will strengthen a 400-foot section of dock area to support heavy loads and the design and installation of a 26.14-acre container marshalling yard and hard-surfaced laydown area. The Port of Beaumont is the largest Department of Defense-designated strategic military seaport in the nation and serves the largest energy production complex in the nation. Investments in the port’s infrastructure is critical to our community and the nation. This is well-deserved by the Port of Beaumont.

I was also honored to receive an A+ from Moms for America Action Congressional Ratings Report Card. The report card graded all 535 Members of Congress on critical issues facing the mothers in America. In Congress, I've pushed back on the Democrats' anti-family agenda and supported policies that protect the interests of America's moms – school choice, the right to keep and bear arms, and women's sports. 

The Moms for America Action Report Card examined votes taken and ranked U.S. Congressmen and Senators based on key votes. Passing HR 1319, what Moms for America refers to as the “Crippling Inflation Act,” is killing the pocketbooks of mothers of all economic status. Another vote against Moms was HR 7691, which sent billions of dollars to Ukraine, while America’s moms are struggling to put food on the table and gas in their minivans. 

Today, I spoke at the Lone Star Harbor Safety Committee meeting to discuss the importance of our ports and the funding we have received to deepen the Houston Ship Channel, the Freeport Harbor Channel, and the Port of Galveston Harbor Extension Channel. TX-14 is home to more Ports—now 6, soon to be 7—than any other Member of Congress. Here on the Gulf Coast, we know how important our ports are to our region, the State of Texas, and the entire country. I also had the honor of speaking at the Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Event. Human trafficking is modern-day slavery. This was a great event shedding light on this crime happening in our backyard and how to combat human trafficking. I am committed to ending this horrific crime.

• H.R. 9253 - To require the evaluation of Federal agencies and programs for duplicative, wasteful, or outdated functions, and to recommend the elimination or realignment of such functions, and for other purposes.
