I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23. THE HAPPENINGS IN CONGRESS $3.5 Million Grant Secured for Head Start in Carrizo Springs As a father and former member of the San Antonio Head Start Policy Council, I know firsthand that the Head Start program has a profound impact on our communities. When our kids have access to the educational resources that Head Start programs provide, they are better equipped to put their best foot forward each day. That is why I am proud to announce a $3,589,586 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for the Head Start Program in Carrizo Springs. This funding will provide crucial benefits for students and families in this area. Whether it’s educational support or nutritional resources, these programs provide a foundation for a lifetime of success. SPENDING TIME IN TX-23 Visited R.J. Mangold Grain Co. I recently had the opportunity to visit R.J. Mangold Grain Co. in Lacoste. Local businesses like these keep our economy thriving. In Washington, I am fighting to secure millions of dollars for USDA programs that support our agricultural producers. I will continue working hard to ensure that our rural communities are not forgotten and are unburdened by federal regulations. Spent Time At The Concan Volunteer Fire Department Firefighters play a critical role in protecting our neighborhoods and families. I was honored to visit with the Concan Volunteer Fire Department this week to meet with the men and women who selflessly volunteer themselves to be the first on site during an emergency. I am thankful for their hard work and dedication to ensure the safety our communities. Visited Uvalde Memorial Hospital It is important that all rural communities in our district have access to quality healthcare. I toured the new Uvalde Memorial Hospital with CEO, Adam Apolinar, to discuss their work to provide first-rate healthcare to Uvalde and the surrounding areas. I am looking forward to seeing this top-notch facility in full swing. Stopped by Double Diamond Transport During an unprecedented time of inflation, labor shortages, and supply chain issues, Texas’ trucking industry has been vital in keeping America running. I stopped by Double Diamond Transport to meet with their team and discuss ways I can continue to support trucking and supply-chain operations through my work in Congress. I am thankful for all that this industry does to keep U.S. goods moving throughout our country and beyond. Met With Leadership at Devine ISD As a father of 6, school safety is one of my top priorities. I had a productive conversation with teachers, students, and staff at Devine ISD discussing ways we can enhance school security measures and increase access to mental health resources. It is essential that every student has the resources they need to realize their potential and receive a quality and personalized education. Toured Morales Feed and Supply It is always great to see small businesses in our rural district thrive. I recently visited Morales Feed and Supply Store in Devine to discuss their operations and the essential farming and ranching supplies they provide to the community. Visited With Natalia City Leadership I sat down with Natalia city leadership to discuss how I can continue advancing their priorities in Congress. It is great to see their dedication to this community and all the hard work they do to keep Natalia thriving. In Washington, I am fighting on behalf of rural communities to improve access to healthcare, boost the economy, and support local law enforcement. Participated in Business Roundtable with Castroville Chamber of Commerce I participated in a productive business roundtable at the Castroville Chamber of Commerce. I am grateful to the Chamber for their hard work to strengthen the Castroville economy by encouraging new investments and working with local businesses to help them succeed. Toured Medina Regional Hospital I visited the Medina Regional Hospital for a firsthand look at the critical services they provide to patients. Their staff works hard each day to provide patients with the medical attention they need. Stopped By Silver Spoon Restaurant Local businesses are what make our district unique and help the economy thrive. It was great to meet with Gris, the owner of Silver Spoon, in Eagle Pass this week to hear about some of the challenges he faces as a business owner. In Congress, I am working hard to support the needs of small businesses as they face record levels of inflation. Joined Somerset’s 50-Year Celebration I was honored to join the City of Somerset as they celebrated their 50th anniversary! It is always great to visit with members and leaders of this community.
