Hi John.
Yesterday, I was humbled to receive an award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for my work on behalf of Kansas entrepreneurs. It’s a tremendous honor, and one that I’ll continually work hard every day to live up to.
As chair of the Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, I’ve made it a top priority to support our region’s small businesses. Entrepreneurship is baked into our community’s DNA. I’m going to keep working with Republicans and Democrats to ensure our small businesses have resources, relief from unnecessary rules, and access to capital so they can grow and hire.

Yesterday, I was honored to receive the “Advocate for American Business” award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in recognition of my work on behalf of Kansas businesses.
I know good ideas can come from Republicans and Democrats. That’s why I’m glad to work with both parties on the Small Business Committee to help Kansas small businesses and grow our economy.
Among other things, that includes –
• Boosting Kansas Manufacturing. I’m focused on bringing manufacturing jobs back home so we make more products and jobs here – not China. That’s why I worked with Republicans and Democrats as a negotiator to pass the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act into law. I’m pleased that our bipartisan law includes support for small and mid-sized manufacturers, which I’ve long pushed hard for.
• Supporting the Bipartisan Women’s Business Centers Improvement Act. I’ve been honored to work alongside my colleague, Republican Claudia Tenney of New York, to move our bipartisan bill forward – the Women’s Business Center Improvement Act. Our bill ensures more resources are available for Women’s Business Centers so they can expand their reach. Our local Women’s Business Center in Fairway, Kansas is a great example of a successful model that we can build on.
• Passing the Paycheck Protection Program. When our economy slowed at the height of the pandemic, both parties came together to ensure our small businesses had emergency resources to keep operating. That’s why I supported the bipartisan law that created the Paycheck Protection Program, which protected tens of thousands of jobs across the Kansas Third District. I also fought for additional transparency in the program to ensure the assistance went to small businesses that actually needed relief – not big corporations.

I know we still have a lot more work to do on behalf of small businesses in Kansas.
I’m going to keep doing everything I can to support entrepreneurs throughout the Kansas Third District. That includes everything from securing resources to help them compete around the globe to ensuring the Small Business Administration is connected to the needs and concerns of Kansas businesses.
It was a pleasure hosting U.S. SBA Administrator, Isabel Guzman, to show off the innovation and determination we have right here at home - including Mid-State Aerospace, Inc.
This is what we can do when we work together and aren’t distracted by partisanship.
I’m focused on concrete and bipartisan solutions to build a better future – with more jobs and lower prices.
I know Kansans can keep moving forward together. The last thing anyone needs right now is more extremism, division, and empty promises.
