Dear John,

This week, I was honored to receive the Advocate for American Business Award from the United States Chamber of Commerce for my work on behalf of Minnesota businesses. Small businesses are the backbone of our local economies, and many took the brunt of the economic damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why I have worked so hard to help them bounce back. That work includes helping pass the American Rescue Plan – to stimulate our economy and give small businesses the resources they needed to help keep their doors open.

My work didn't stop there. I have made sure to stay connected to business owners in MN02 since the beginning of this Congress. I have visited countless local businesses and passed my SCORE for Small Business Act out of the House to reauthorize and improve training and support programs for beginning entrepreneurs. I even introduced a bill to cut federal taxes for small business owners, the Small Business Owner Tax Relief Act.

I will continue to support small businesses – because that means stronger local economies and better-paying jobs!

Here are some other highlights from the week:

Greeting new residents in MN02
This week, members of my staff were in attendance for a bison release at Spring Lake Park Reserve Bison Prairie. It’s so amazing to see native biodiversity reintroduced to the land and the great efforts of the Dakota County Park System.

Going for a ride
I believe that every sitting Member of Congress should see the work that local law enforcement does first-hand. In fact, I believe it so much I introduced a bill to require them to do a ride-along – and it was an honor to join Officer Soto for one this week in Shakopee. She was recently named the National Latino Police Officer Association’s Officer of the Year!

Fighting to stop vehicle theft
Losing access to a vehicle can be life-altering. That's why I am proud to cosponsor both the Auto Theft Prevention Act to help police address auto theft and the PART Act to help law enforcement address catalytic converter theft in the South Metro.

Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:

Check this out! At a gas station here in the Second District, Unleaded-88 is cheaper than traditional gasoline. Unleaded-88, or E-15, is fuel made with ethanol, which is made with corn grown right here in the U.S. E-15 is cheaper than gasoline, burns cleaner and supports our energy independence. I was proud to help secure the year-round sale of E-15 earlier this year to save Minnesotans money at the pump.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Until next time,
