Team, let me take a minute of your time to tell you a story.
Last year I was on lunch duty – milk duty to be specific, at a school right here in Nevada.
I noticed the kids separated themselves into two lines. I asked the principal what was going on, and she looked at me, and said, “Well, that’s the line for kids whose families can afford their lunch and this is for kids who rely on free lunch.”
And if that doesn’t break your heart, then you might not have one, because no kid in the greatest state in the greatest country in the world should have to feel like that.
So, we did something about it. This year, we’re giving every student in Nevada free breakfast and lunch to make sure no child goes hungry, to help every family keep a few more dollars in their budget, and to have just one line in every school.
That’s my job, fixing problems and fighting like hell for you and Nevada’s kids.
And that is just the beginning, because we have a lot of unfinished business, Nevada. And this year, you get to choose whether or not we get the job done.
I’m fighting to get the job done. And that’s the message we need to spread to every voter in Nevada. This is our last weekend to get out the vote, to spread that message, and we need the resources to do it. Can you make a donation, big or small, to help our boots on the ground team help turn out the vote this weekend?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Education is on the ballot this year, and my opponent Joe Lombardo wants to strip $300 million away from our public schools and put guns in our classrooms. He called our work to make sure our kids don’t have to learn on an empty stomach a “pet project.” He’d be a disaster for our students, our teachers and our parents.
When it comes to affordable health care, my administration took on the insurance companies and medical debt collectors to end surprise billing, protect every Nevadan with a pre-existing condition and become the second state in the nation to pass a public health insurance option.
But while I’m working to make health care more affordable and lower the cost of prescription drugs, my opponent thinks affordable care is “BS!”
And thanks to Donald Trump’s Supreme Court, your right to choose is on the ballot this year. I’ll make it very clear for everyone here and watching at home: I firmly believe that politicians have no place in the personal decisions Nevadans make about their own bodies.
But Joe Lombardo? He supports a ban on abortion, wants to ban contraceptives, would let other states throw our providers and women who travel here for care in jail, and he would pass cruel policies to make it harder for Nevadans to access care.
Team, that’s what’s on the ballot this Tuesday.
That’s the choice you have this year. All of our progress and everything we can accomplish in the next four years by working together is up to you.
I’m ready to fight with you. I’m ready to keep doing the hard work to move our state forward. We can do this, together – we can build the Nevada we deserve.
But folks, this race is going to be razor thin. I’m not lying when I say it could be decided by a hundred votes. We need everyone in this fight with us.
We have to make sure we turn out every eligible voter in Nevada, and our volunteers are ready to get the job done. They just need your help. Can you pitch in to help fund our GOTV efforts this last weekend before the election? Donate here →
Thanks,
Steve
