PROGRAM UPDATES:
Shelter Aid

Border Angels supports about 1,200 migrants in over a dozen Tijuana shelters every month, and at least 500 of them are children. Most of these families and children come from hot, tropical and subtropical lands. The cold they find at the border, often freezing, is unknown to them, and for this reason, many of them suffer from respiratory diseases.

This winter season we want to assist these shelter families with NEW cold wear items WITH TAGS. (Items must be new in order to cross into Tijuana, MX). We are in need of:
* blankets
* jackets
* sweaters
* beanies
* socks, etc.

We are in need of all adult and children sizes.

You can email us at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) to schedule a drop-off or mail in a donation to our office at 2258 Island Ave. San Diego, CA 92102. You can also check out our Amazon Wishlist ([link removed])

Day Laborer Outreach:

Nothing but treats at our Halloween Day Laborer Outreach!🖤 🎃
A huge thank you to our volunteers who came out and handed snacks, water, and resources to day laborers. Such an engaged and respectful group of people, they really helped us build stronger connections and continue to establish Border Angels as a resource for them in our community.

We also want to thank you for all of your interest in volunteering, we will have announcements for more opportunities very soon! For more information please email [email protected]

Title 42 Exemptions

Celebrating as another group is headed to the US after we assisted them through Title 42 exemptions, a process exclusive to asylum seekers who have been in our supported shelters.

“A small but mighty group, thank you Border Angels!”

We share in their excitement and want to thank all of you, as we could not do this work without you, and without the amazing partnership with Psicologos Sin Fronteras, B.C. Thank you for your continued support and for helping us bring this small but incredibly important relief at the border to the families who have been waiting up to two years for a chance to present their asylum case.
Thank You Fresno State University!

We want to give Marcus and the students from Fresno State University a huge thank you for joining us this past weekend as part of our Educational Groups! FSU has been one of our regular groups throughout the years and are the first in-person group we have had since the pandemic; we are so excited to connect with people face-to-face again.

We were joined by over 30 students for a Day Laborer Outreach where we distributed packages with water, snacks, and other resources for day laborers. FSU also helped us conduct a Water Drop and leave water and supplies in the desert for those crossing through.

If your school/group/organization would like to join us or find out what other educational opportunities are available please email us at [email protected] today!
Halloween Donations

Check out some of the contributions to our costume drive for the kids in Tijuana at Madres Deportadas en Accion!

We are so touched to know people drove from San Clemente and Rancho Bernardo, or who shipped in costumes to our office from different states!
THANK YOU🖤

Immigration and rights groups ask Biden administration not to send Haitian migrants to Guantanamo facility
More than 280 immigration, faith-based and rights groups sent a letter to the Biden administration on Friday asking it not to send Haitian migrants interdicted at sea to Guantanamo Bay or a third-party country.

The groups were responding to a Sunday report by NBC News that the White House's National Security Council had asked the Department of Homeland Security to model scenarios in case of a surge of Haitian migrants.

Fuel supplies in Haiti are currently blocked, and officials said the Biden administration believes that when Haitians are again able to buy gas, there could be a mass exodus of migrants trying to make the dangerous journey to the U.S. by boat.

The scenarios would estimate when the number of Haitians fleeing the country by sea would require sending them to a third-party country for processing, and also at what point that country would be overwhelmed and the U.S. would need to double capacity at the existing migrant facility at its Navy base in Guantanamo, Cuba.

Mexican-born filmmaker fears losing hope if DACA thrown out

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Under a string of golden street lights, the directions roll off Jorge Xolalpa’s tongue interchangeably in English and Spanish as he paces the sidewalk with a cameraman by his side.

The actors don’t miss a beat, and crewmembers prop lighting on top of a nearby dumpster to give the scene the glow the 33-year-old award-winning Mexican-born filmmaker has etched in his mind. Moments like these are precious to Xolalpa, whose eyes dart with excitement as he describes his love of film.

Despite his rising fame, Xolalpa, like hundreds of thousands of others, is mired in a years-long battle over whether he can have legal working papers in the United States. Should the courts end the program known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, he said he’ll find a way to make a living and won’t stop making movies. But, he said, he would reel from the loss of stability in the country where he grew up and has made his home.

“The biggest thing I would lose would be hope,” he said.
