John,
Last night was the final gubernatorial debate and it cemented what Mainers already know: Paul LePage will take Maine backwards and put us all at risk. Mainers just can’t trust Paul LePage.
LePage got on stage last night, proudly declared himself pro-life, talked about attending pro-life rallies, and yelled at anyone who tried to push him for an answer on social issues — even though his own party’s platform outlines plans to ban abortion, same-sex marriage, and sex education.
And LePage’s lies just keep stacking up. He claimed he wouldn’t restrict abortion — despite telling the Christian Civic League he would. He said he never supported Trump’s travel ban — but he did. And he denied telling his administration not to speak with legislators — even though his demands in 2013 were crystal clear.
No matter what the issue is at hand, Paul LePage just can’t bring himself to tell the truth. Like Governor Mills said last night, “It’s not middle school, it’s state government.” We need leaders who are ready to actually get to work, not run away or hide behind lies.
Thank you,
Drew Gattine
