I have to put it bluntly. Republican leaders like House minority leader
Kevin McCarthy, House Whip Steve Scalise, and former Vice President Mike
Pence, have not been shy about what their agenda will be should they take
power after these elections.

From passing a federal abortion ban to putting Social Security and
Medicare on the chopping block, all the ways Republican extremists plan to
unravel decades of progress is the pitch to voters in their closing
argument before the midterms on Tuesday.

The stakes have arguably never been higher heading into this final GOTV
weekend!

That’s why I and other DFA staff are in key states right now like
Michigan, Georgia, Ohio, Minnesota, and North Carolina, where we can bring
all of our work from this year across the finish line.

difference in us being able to make a second pass in our GOTV voter
engagement efforts, whether it be by making calls, sending texts, and
knocking doors through Election Day. We know that we need to specifically
mobilize and turn out these key voters in our base to take our incredible
slate of candidates over the top.

Republican extremists have made it clear what they will use their power
for – attacking the right to choose nationwide and cutting benefits are
right at the top.

Kevin McCarthy refused to say if Social Security and Medicare cuts would
be tied to debt-limit negotiations, a move that would threaten to shut
down the government.

Steve Scalise, the number two House Republican, defended their plans for
Medicare and Social Security on Fox News, including raising the
retirement age and higher premiums for health coverage.

Mike Pence said, “Our work must also go far beyond simply working to
make abortion illegal, we must continue to work to make it unthinkable.”
