We just got word that one of the biggest PACs spending hundreds of thousands of dollars against Martha has broken campaign finance law by taking $70,000 from Solidaire Network, an unregistered California-based police abolition fund.
Mary Moriarty has always avoided answering the question of where she stood on last year’s ballot initiative to defund the police . Solidaire Network is a little less ambiguous: They describe themselves as a fund for "Defund the Police Urgency and Strategy" and gave $220,000 to Yes4Minneapolis, the group pushing to eliminate the Minneapolis Police Department.
We already knew that out-of-state interests were trying to buy this election by slandering Martha’s name and what she stands for —now we know that a large chunk of that money was ill-gotten. It’s just baffling.
Martha is proud of the local, labor-supported campaign she’s built with the help of supporters like you. So we’re setting a goal to raise just ten percent of Mary's ill-gotten $70,000 by midnight. [[link removed]]
