Dear John,
Thousands in our community have already cast their ballot, and in just 4 days, thousands more will join them by heading to the polls for this year’s election on November 8th. I firmly believe that voting is our civic duty, and I want to address any questions you may have - regardless of political party - about exercising your constitutional right to vote.
Here’s the truth: there are more ways to vote safely than ever before, and we must continue to ensure those avenues are accessible to all eligible voters.
I write this message with firm confidence in our election system and in you, our poll workers, and voters. In this e-newsletter, I break down mail-in and in-person voting for Chester and Berks Counties, ensuring you can vote confidently no matter how you decide to vote or whom you vote for.

Voting In Person at the Polls
As always, you have the option to vote in person on Election Day at the polling location in your neighborhood! There can be multiple polling locations in a neighborhood so I recommend confirming your polling location before you head out the door - you can do so here. Polls will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, November 8, from 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.
|
Voting by Mail
Your ballot needs to be received by the County Board of Elections no later than 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8 for it to be counted. The deadline to request a mail-in ballot has passed. For those in our community who have already requested and/or received a mail-in ballot, be sure to follow the instructions included with your ballot or view step-by-step instructions here and below:
|
Since Election Day is just 5 short days away, I recommend submitting your ballot via drop box, rather than sending it by mail, to ensure it arrives at your County Board of Election on time. Remember: Voters may only return their own ballot to drop box locations. There is an exception though! If a voter has a disability and needs assistance, someone else is able to drop off that voter’s ballot, but they MUST complete and submit this form to do so.
Drop box locations are staffed by non-partisan volunteers with cameras for added accountability. Here are drop box locations and hours in Chester and Berks Counties:

Questions? Reach Chester County Voter Services here.
|
Now, this is a question that came up during our Voting Telephone Town Hall: What if you have a mail-in ballot but want to vote in person? No problem. Just bring your unopened mail-in ballot to “spoil” at your polling location. If you forget to bring your unopened mail-in ballot, you will be asked to cast a provisional ballot. Please allow extra time in your schedule for casting a provisional ballot.
|
Accessible Voting
Everyone deserves easy access to the ballot box, regardless of their ability status. Please know that every Pennsylvania polling location is wheelchair accessible and offers translation services. For more information, visit pa.vote.gov.
Voter intimidation is a serious issue and no one should interfere with your right to vote. If you witness or experience instances of voter intimidation, please contact local police immediately and then follow steps outlined here.
. . .
Local elections have a real impact on our community, so make your plan to vote today! I also want to thank poll workers, judges of elections, and our public servants in Voter Services who are working night and day to ensure a free and fair election for all.
As always, we invite you to call our office or write to us through our contact form about this or any other issue. It is the honor of my lifetime to serve our community. Please take care and be well.
Respectfully,
|
