Dear John,

Democracy is on the ballot next week across the country, but especially here in Wisconsin.

Conservation and democracy go hand in hand. If a community has contaminated water, or wants more of their power to come from renewable sources, they can organize, persuade their neighbors, go to the ballot box, and vote for new leaders and new policies. This is how we win conservation victories, but it only works when the votes are counted and the results respected by the winners and the losers.

Now Tim Michels is telling activists that if he’s elected governor, “Republicans will never lose another election in Wisconsin.” That kind of statement is dangerous for democracy.

We’ve been partnering with a bipartisan group of Wisconsin business leaders – many whom have never before voted for a Democrat – who are speaking about why they will be voting to re-elect Governor Tony Evers. The Governor has sworn to respect the results of the election, no matter what they are.

Unfortunately, his opponent was not willing to make this simple promise.

This issue is so important that these leaders, with our help, took to the airwaves to tell others why they’re voting for democracy and Gov. Tony Evers on November 8th. Take a look at the fantastic ad they are running (and share with your friends): [[link removed]]

Wisconsin Conservation Voters is going to keep fighting for democracy. We'll keep working with our friends in the business community and other allies who believe votes should be counted and results respected.
