Dear John,
The 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference, more commonly referred to as COP27, will be the 27th United Nations Climate Change conference, to be held from 6 to 18 November 2022 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
COP27 provides a critical moment to build upon historic U.S. climate action and investments, as public and private sector leaders raise their ambition, deliver on commitments, implement policies to capitalize on the opportunities in the necessary transition to a zero emissions future, and ensure public finance to support adaptation and resilience for developing nations.
Ceres experts will participate in a number of COP27 events to highlight the massive opportunities for investors, companies, and policymakers in the transition to a more climate resilient and water-secure future and the various groundbreaking initiatives and resources that can continue to help guide them as they map out their next actions. These include the Investor Agenda, Climate Action 100+, the Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative, the Valuing Water Finance Initiative, and the Ceres Ambition 2030 initiative, among others.

Accounting for Climate: What are we still missing? 2022 Dialogue Meeting (Carbon Tracker & Climate Action 100+)
November 8, 2022 | 11:30am-12:30pm EET | 4:30-5:30am ET
WMB Pavilion - Blue Zone, Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt | Online
Carbon Tracker and Climate Action 100+ bring you a panel of experts to unpick the findings of Carbon Tracker’s latest report, ‘Still Flying Blind’. The objective of this event is to demonstrate the importance for companies and auditors to provide transparent and consistent climate-related information in their financial reports—failure to provide this information raises questions about whether companies are reflecting the financial consequences of climate risk and the energy transition within their accounts. Our panel will explore investors’ urgent needs to understand the impacts of material climate-related issues on financial reporting, and the lack of
sufficient information to date. Carbon Tracker will introduce the results of its latest analysis of corporate accounts, which was performed using the new CA100+ Climate Accounting and Audit Alignment Assessment (first published in March 2022, updates in October 2022). We will conclude with a Q&A. Kirsten Spalding will join this panel, moderated by Carbon Tracker’s Head of Accounting, Audit and Disclosure, Barbara Davidson. This event is available both in-person and livestreamed.

Cross-Sector Action to Increase Water Security in a Changing Climate
November 10, 2022 | 1:00-1:50pm EET | 6:00-6:50am ET
Blue Zone, Egyptian Pavilion, Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt | Online
Climate change is having a growing impact globally, hitting the most vulnerable hardest, and contributing to food insecurity, population displacement and stress on water resources. The African continent is particularly impacted. The Horn of Africa is currently experiencing the most severe drought in recent history, with millions facing acute hunger. In this context this session will discuss approaches to increase water security—including expanding access to safe water services, improving the health of watersheds, ensuring effective governance of shared water resources and building resilience to climate-related events. It will bring together government, business and civil
society organizations, and shine a spotlight on the collective action needed to increase water security. Kirsten Spalding will join the discussion with water experts including Henk Ovink, Special Envoy for International Water Affairs for the Kingdom of the Netherlands and Bea Perez, Corporate SVP & Global Chief of Communications, Sustainability & Strategic Partnerships for The Coca-Cola Company.
