When I first began covering alternative news, part of the purpose was to unravel for myself the endless tangle of obfuscation presented by the mainstream media, powerful corporations, and our own government. I began publishing my findings to share them with others.

When I was researching this book, I found that many of the original links were no longer present on the web. Those missing links are marked like this: (memory-holed) in honor of George Orwell's infamous book 1984. Any time you see that you'll know that the sources which once supported our arguments have been "disappeared."
You'll read many things that once sounded crazy. There are things that sounded nuts when we suggested possible motivations or how things could go wrong. There's outright propaganda that tried to change the way we think, and there's the discouragement - and even criminalization - of critical thought.
