Hi John,

Affordable housing residents deserve the same eviction protections as any tenant, but currently, that’s not the case. Find out why that is and what can be done by attending next Wednesday’s Tenants Rights in Affordable Housing – Where Things Stand and What Can Be Improved, happening virtually from 12:00PM-1:00PM PT and brought to you by the Emerging Leaders Peer Network (ELPN).

Registration deadline: this Monday, November 7 at 5:00PM PT
If cost is a barrier, please email Andrew at [email protected]. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds!

Tenants across the state benefit from renter protections like those afforded by the Tenant Protection Act (AB 1482), which provides safeguards from evictions without reasonable “Just Cause”. Many affordable housing residents are excluded from these protections because their homes are funded by the Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC)— a separate designation that comes with a less comprehensive set of standards.

What can we do about it?

Come find out! Panelists Marcos Segura (Staff Attorney, National Housing Law Project), Shanti Singh (Communications and Legislative Director, Tenants Together), and Barbara Crain (Area Director of Property Management Group, Mercy Housing Management Group) will put their heads together to crack this important case. The discussion will be moderated by William Wilcox (Tax-Exempt Bond Program Manager, San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development).
