Dear John,
Heather Lofthouse here. I’m the Executive Director at Inequality Media, and Robert Reich and I wanted to share a message with you as we head into the new year.
We’re not going to lie to you…fighting this fight isn’t easy.
From family separations at the border to telling four female congresswomen of color to “go back where they came from,” Trump always finds a way to lower the bar and drag our country deeper down into the darkness.
But when we feel down, when we feel like giving up, there’s always one thing that keeps us going: you.
Your support over the years keeps us going when the daily lies, hatefulness, and corruption emanating from the White House are almost too much to bear.
Especially now, looking back upon a decade of economic gains that went straight to the top, American workers getting left in the dust, and corporations hoarding more power than ever, your tenacity, drive, and kind words keep us energized to continue fighting back in 2020 and beyond.
Here are some of your notes that have brought the Inequality Media team joy as this depressing decade comes to a close:
- “Your work has been very insightful and honest. It helps me explain my own thoughts and expectations for our society and government to other people. Thanks for the research and the simple, straight-forward presentation.” — Candace W.
- “I'm a lifelong Republican, but party and political views are irrelevant when held up by lies, illegal, immoral, and unethical behavior wrapped up in racism and xenophobia. Your work is more important now than ever in our history.” — Scott A.
- “Thank you for fighting the fight! I sleep a little better at night due to your efforts and clarity of thought. You are amazing!” — Bernadette T.
- “I appreciate your voice in an age of deceit and misinformation. Keep up the good work!” — Nancy R.
- “It’s so hard to know what to do during these scary times, but I feel better already having just donated to Inequality Media.” — Penny F.
- “Freedom of speech, sharing of information and justice are hallmarks of what our Nation is supposed to be about. I firmly support your efforts and will continue to do so.” — Anne Marie M.
Inequality Media is made up of a dedicated skeleton crew that puts every single dollar to good use. To hear that our work has had a significant impact and resonated so strongly with the public is both reassuring and invigorating.
If our work has positively impacted you in any way, would you consider chipping in $3, or whatever you can afford, as we bid farewell to the 2010s?
It’s the last day of our dollar-for-dollar match, so if a donation is something you’ve been considering, please make it now.
The next year, and the decade beyond it, isn’t going to be easy. But with your hope and support behind us, we can undoubtedly right the wrongs of the past and get our country back on track.
On behalf of all of us here at Inequality Media, thank you for being in the trenches with us.
Thank you for inspiring us to never give up hope.
Thank you for giving us the drive to keep spreading the truth and educating the public.
We couldn’t do this without you.
Sincerely,
Heather Lofthouse, Robert Reich, and the skeleton crew at Inequality Media
