Dear John,
I can never unsee the cruelty I’ve witnessed as an undercover investigator.
During my most recent investigation, into a pig farm, I saw so many heartbreaking horrors. Pregnant pigs like Simone—a gentle animal I connected with and felt deep sympathy for—were confined to cramped gestation crates—metal cages only slightly larger than a pig’s body—barely able to lie down and bloodied from rubbing against the bars. Deprived of mental stimulation, these pigs were driven mad by boredom and stress.
Simone repeatedly bit the bars of her cage, evidence of a complete meltdown.
