Dear Neighbors,
I strongly condemn the antisemitic remarks that celebrities and athletes have made recently. The threat against synagogues in New Jersey show that words have serious consequences and that antisemitic rhetoric can lead to real threats against the Jewish community. While I am glad that law enforcement officials have neutralized the immediate threat, we cannot ignore the implications these words have. Now, more than ever, we must stand with our Jewish neighbors against these threats and strongly condemn antisemitism in all forms.
This week, I announced that New Jersey will receive millions of dollars in federal funding to help lower energy costs. Our state will receive over $153 million to help eligible families keep up with their energy bills through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The funding comes from a government spending bill and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that I included as Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee. I’m glad to see that we’re still delivering federal dollars to New Jersey as we continue to lower costs for hardworking families. Read more here
New Jersey will also receive over $183 million to help families improve home energy efficiency. The funding comes from provisions I included in the Inflation Reduction Act from my Energy and Commerce Committee. The funding can be used for installation of energy efficient equipment, including electric appliances and heat pumps that will lower energy costs for American families. According to the Department of Energy, more information about how consumers can apply for rebates is expected to be available in the spring, and rebates will be available to the public later in the year.
