And you can too!

Loretta Claiborne felt isolated for most of her childhood.

She was born partially blind and with intellectual disabilities (ID). She couldn't walk or talk until age four, and other children taunted her mercilessly for her differences.

But Loretta’s whole life changed when she joined Special Olympics in 1970 and began running. She says, "If it weren't for sports, I wouldn't be the person I am today.” Before she knew it, Loretta had crossed the finish line of twenty-six marathons.

Watch Her Story
Today, Loretta is an accomplished athlete, a Special Olympics leader and member of the board, and a motivational speaker who has shared her story at the United Nations, the Vatican, and before Congress. She is truly an amazing and inspiring woman who has touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of people.

Loretta’s story exemplifies exactly why we are fighting for a more inclusive world. When we believe in and champion the incredible abilities of people with ID, we see that there is no limit to what they can accomplish.

We need you. The world we dream of is only possible if we all do our part.

Now it’s your turn to show Loretta your support — with just a click of a button you can let Loretta know you are with us!

Loretta, you’re an inspiration!
Keep breaking stigmas!
Never stop achieving your goals!

Thank you for championing an inclusive world.
