Dear Friend,
I hope that this email finds you well!
We are writing to inform you that Emgage PAC has decided to endorse Lt. Governor John Fetterman for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania.
Emgage PAC follows a rigorous process that includes: vetting candidates' historical political engagement, and analyzing their stances on various issues (including content and impact). We ask candidates to fill out a detailed questionnaire assessing their stances, and we incorporate community input to come to a final decision. Candidates are also often asked to provide answers through a rigorous interview process run by our professional political staff (with input from our state advisory committee and national team).
We endorsed Lt. Governor Fetterman over Dr. Oz because of his stances on key issues. For example, Lt. Governor Fetterman has a robust history of fighting for the freedom of those wrongfully convicted (through his work as Chair of the Board of Pardons), and he promises to continue fighting for criminal justice reform if elected to the Senate. He is also committed to expanding voting rights, transitioning to clean energy to combat climate change, and more.
In response to Emgage PAC's endorsement of him, Lt. Governor Fetterman stated the following:
“I am grateful and honored to have the support of Emgage PAC,” said Fetterman. “Emgage has played a critical role in educating and mobilizing Muslim American voters in Pennsylvania and across the country. I look forward to partnering with them in the U.S. Senate to pass legislation on issues that matter most to Muslim American communities from healthcare, to education, civil rights, and more.”
Dr. Oz, in contrast, held several stances that are not in line with Emgage PAC's values and that represent a continuation of Trumpism: a desire to build a wall on the U.S. borders, steps backward on criminal justice reform and gun reform, and ending protections for those with preexisting conditions to receive medical care, to name a few.
For more information on our stance on Dr. Oz, please see the Associated Press article that we took part in, here.
Control of the Senate may hinge on this race, and critical issues are at stake. We urge you to get our your vote!
