FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Heavy Rain and Wind Expected Over the Coming Days

?

The National Weather Service Seattle predicts [ [link removed] ] our first atmospheric river of the season will happen this evening (November 3, 2022) through Saturday morning (November 5, 2022), so be prepared for heavy rainfall and potential flooding. At this time, the Skagit and Samish rivers are expected to crest _below_ flood stage at all forecast points. However, fallen leaves may clog storm drains and potentially cause urban flooding in some areas.

For updated river forecasts, please visit www.skagitcounty.net/flood [ [link removed] ] or call the River Level Hotline at (360) 416-1404. For current and forecasted weather conditions, visit National Weather Service [ [link removed] ].?

Skagitonians throughout the County should also expect some water over flood-prone roadways. Practice ?Turn Around-Don?t Drown?, do not drive through water over the roadway, and follow warning signs. Remember: the water can be deeper and faster moving than anticipated and presents a risk to drivers - as little as six inches of water can cause you to lose control of your vehicle.

A Wind Advisory [ [link removed] ] is also in effect from 5:00 p.m. this evening (November 3, 2022) through Friday morning (November 4, 2022) at 8 a.m. Gusty winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 50 mph per hour are also expected which means power outages may occur. Those who live and/or work in Skagit County are encouraged to take precautions and practice food and generator safety if the power goes out. For information about power outage preparation and safety, go to: www.ready.gov/power-outages [ [link removed] ].
