On Dec. 20, President Donald Trump signed a record Pentagon budget of $738 billion, after it had passed the House and Senate with overwhelming bi-partisan support. It provides the funding for the ongoing wars in seven countries, and more than 1000 military bases in over 100 countries. It is the budget of Empire, which at the same time drains away the resources urgently needed for housing, health care, education, jobs, childcare, and more.

The bi-partisan passage of the 2020 military budget underlines once again why we must build an independent anti-war and people’s movement. That is exactly what the ANSWER Coalition has been about since our founding in 2001. In the past two years, the ANSWER Coalition has extended our organizing presence to many new areas of the country, and now has chapters in 25 cities.
