If you take a moment to listen to the mainstream media talking heads or read opinion pieces in left-leaning newspapers, there is a good chance that if they reference Texas in a story it’s likely they’re trying to get the reader to buy into the narrative that Texas is on the cusp of flipping Democrat in the near future and that Republicans are doing everything in their power to stop the inevitable.
Fellow patriot,

If you take a moment to listen to the mainstream media talking heads or read opinion pieces in left-leaning newspapers, there is a good chance that if they reference Texas in a story it’s likely they’re trying to get the reader to buy into the narrative that Texas is on the cusp of flipping Democrat in the near future and that Republicans are doing everything in their power to stop the inevitable.

But that couldn’t be further from the truth.

As you may know, 2022 marks the second election in a row that I’m running to represent Texas 15th Congressional District in the U.S. House– which since 1903 has only ever elected Democrats as federal representatives in Washington.

Here are five reasons you need to pay attention to my congressional race deep in the heart of South Texas:
  1. In 2020, I ran against a Democrat incumbent no one thought I could beat; while I came up short, I only missed the mark by 6,588 votes – or 2.8%
  2. South Texas shifted more dramatically toward Trump than any other region in the United States in the 2020 election. The counties comprising the Rio Grande Valley are home to communities that are almost entirely Hispanic.
  3. Despite what national Democrats want people to believe, Hispanics in South Texas support border security, despite being labeled as “self-hating” by angry leftists.
  4. Democrats look at Hispanics through a single lens, whether they’re trying to court Mexicans in Los Angeles or Puerto Ricans in New York. South Texas is neither.
  5. Tejanos (as we call ourselves in South Texas) are culturally conservative; There is nothing conservative about today’s Democrat Party.
Flipping the House Republican isn’t going to just happen by itself. The Republican Party has to invest in areas in which we’ve not traditionally had a presence. That’s why I’m asking you to chip in whatever you can right now. We’re making a splash here in South Texas and we cannot let up. Our momentum grows by the day- will you help ensure it doesn’t let up?

The fact of the matter is that Hispanics, which make up nearly 30% of eligible voters in Texas, are increasingly becoming a force to be reckoned with in Texas politics – presenting a big problem for Democrats as they look to 1.) drag Texas further to the left and 2.) Hold onto their razor-thin majority in the House.

“For decade after decade, part of being Hispanic in South Texas, just like wrapping tamales on Christmas Eve or listening to Selena at family reunions, meant voting Democratic, even as the party became less welcoming to those with conservative views”.

Chances are if you’re reading this right now, you opened the email because of the subject line I chose. Texas is for Republicans what California is for Democrats: Our heartland and stronghold. For Democrats in Texas and Republicans in California, the hope that the party in power will overplay their hand is always front of mind.

With your immediate help, we can ensure that Democrats never succeed in their quest to turn Texas into the next California.

Thank you for your time,

Monica De La Cruz
