# [#]The very first paragraph of our Constitution begins with three powerful words ... We the People.
As our country prepares for the centuries-old undertaking of a national election, these words have great meaning to me. *
It
is
the
‘we’
who
create
the
changes
for
a
more
perfect
union
by
voting.
*
*
It
is
the
‘we’
who
elect
leaders
who
we
believe
will
best
represent
us
and
fight
for
our
values
and
welfare.
*
*
It
is
ultimately
the
‘we’
who
must
show
up
and
do
the
right
thing.
It’s been my greatest privilege and honor to serve as your Congresswoman. I’ve shown up and fought for you and our values.
The votes I’ve cast in Congress have always been to meet my constituents where they are in their lives and to make changes to improve them. Here are some of those important changes:
*
We
passed
an
assault
weapons
ban.
*
*
We
passed
a
cap
on
insulin
costs
and
prescription
drug
prices
that
will
save
seniors
and
Medicare
billions
of
dollars.
*
*
We
passed
transformative
legislation
to
fight
climate
change.
*
*
We
passed
the
Women’s
Health
Protection
Act
and
are
fighting
for
your
privacy,
equality
and
reproductive
freedom.
I’m proud to be a Democrat, and while my party is by no means perfect, our values are embedded in these accomplishments for my constituents and the people of our country during two of the toughest years for all of us.
But my sacred oath calls for even more. It calls for putting country over party. Our precious democracy is on the ballot and this moment calls for each of us ‘to be the sentry at the door.’ By doing so, we will have met the great challenge of our time.
We the People.
Enlist in the cause.
Vote.
With hope and determination,
