1) It’s The Inflation, Stupid
Thirty years ago, Bill Clinton’s brilliant and flamboyant campaign manager, James Carville, put a sign on his desk for anyone who wanted to know what the election was about: “It’s the economy, stupid.” Next week’s election isn’t very complicated either: “It’s the inflation, stupid.”
This chart from Laffer Associates shows the growing global spike in higher inflation. It’s happening in the U.S. and most countries in the world because of runaway government spending, debt, and money-printing – almost unprecedented in modern times.
Biden and the Europeans have embraced Modern Monetary Theory – the looney tunes idea that nations can just spend and borrow forever and nothing bad will happen. Well, they were wrong. Really bad things have happened. It’s time to throw the theory and the practitioners of this theory into the trash can (figuratively).

2) Our Fair And Balanced Media
The folks at Media Research Center have completed an analysis of media coverage of the midterm elections and it confirms what we've all seen with our own two eyes. Republican candidates - especially in battleground races, can't get a fair shake from the major network TV coverage. Here is what the study found:
"Most of this year’s discussion centered on four candidates: Republicans Herschel Walker, Mehmet Oz, and Kari Lake, and Democrat John Fetterman. Fetterman’s bad press (81% negative, mostly comments panning his dreadful debate performance) was the worst of any Democrat, but it was better than any of the top Republicans. His Senate rival, Oz, was hit with 82 percent negative press, while Georgia’s Herschel Walker was slammed with 50 negative statements vs. six positive ones, an 89 percent negative spin."

The study does show that the media has been tough on Biden and some Democrats. But the daggers have been mostly out for GOP candidates.
Most abused has been Arizona's Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake. MRC found that 100% of the coverage about her was negative. Now we are the first people to admit that the Republican candidates are not a gang of Mother Teresas. But they couldn't find even one positive thing to say about Kari lake? How about that she supports school choice for all minority kids and parents?

3) The Department of Homeland Insecurity
You’ve probably heard by now that our own government has been censoring conservative voices on social media. The Biden administration is labeling views that they disagree with on social media as "misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation." Government officials at the Department of Homeland Security have been directing social media platforms to enforce a single point of view on "the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic and the efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines, racial justice, U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and the nature of U.S. support to Ukraine."
Wait. Isn’t THIS the real “threat to democracy?”
This suppression of dissent and free speech s characteristic of what tyrants do around the world when they take power. Our own government has turned against us – which is especially frightening because much of what has been labeled “misinformation” has been proven to have been proven true. The government has been the distributor of misinformation about COVID, etc.

We agree with former NSA counterintelligence officer John Schindler that investigating this scandal must be high on the agenda of the next Congress:
The report elaborates that DHS this spring advocated employing third-party nonprofit groups as a "clearing house for information to avoid the appearance of government propaganda." Biden’s DHS wanted to use ostensibly private cut-outs to spread political propaganda approved by the White House, paid for with taxpayer money.

This must end now. We need a 9-11 style commission to find out how this happened, who did it, and how we can prevent it from happening again.
The Comer/CMR/Jordan bill (HR8752) would prohibit any government employee from directing a private company to censor First Amendment speech. That would be a good start.

4) Gavin Newsom Starts Reinventing Himself
This tweet was greeted with deserved ridicule before being deleted without explanation:

We find this statement almost comically because there has been no governor in America who has embraced the radical tax, spend, regulate, and lockdown policies more enthusiastically than Newsom. Is Gavin Newsom going to try to run for president in 2024 as a moderate?

5) Quote Of The Day – The Fed Still Has Work To Do
For the first time ever markets are pricing in a peak Fed Funds rate of over 5 percent. With the PCE deflator [consumer inflation] having risen by 6.2 percent in the last 12 months, it would be historically anomalous for a 4 percent Fed Funds rate to bring inflation down to 2 percent.
Former Federal Reserve Board member Lawrence Lindsey regarding the Fed interest rate hike yesterday.
