As the pandemic continues, as the impacts of racism grow more evident, and as the health implications of climate change devastate millions, bioethicists must step up. Are We Culling Too Many Animals in Response to Animal-to-Human Diseases? The Need for 'One Health' Policy
Monkeypox is one more reminder that outbreaks of diseases transmitted from animals to humans have been increasing and are likely to become more common. But a ubiquitous worldwide public health response kills thousands of animals each year, often without scientific, economic, and moral justification. Steven Joffe Honored Hastings Fellow Elected to National Academy of Medicine
Steven Joffe, chairman of the department of medical ethics and health policy at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine and a Hastings Center fellow, was elected to the National Academy of Medicine for being a leading expert in research ethics. Read more.
