Hi John,
Rishi Sunak has u-turned. He is going to the global climate talks in Egypt next week, COP27. [1]
Now that he’s decided to step up and represent the UK, he must deliver more than just soundbites, photo opportunities and hand shakes. Can you tell the Prime Minister to show climate leadership on the global stage?

Last week a leading climate scientist warned that the world was close to “irreversible” climate breakdown. With the stakes this high, the Prime Minister must use COP27 as an opportunity to help pull world leaders together and negotiate solutions to the climate crisis. [2]
We urgently need Rishi Sunak to take a lead on:
- Cutting the UK’s emissions faster than currently planned
- Ruling out all new fossil fuel projects now and creating new green jobs
- Supporting demands from developing countries who are calling for climate funding promises to be met and significantly increased
- Doing everything he can to secure the release of political prisoner Alaa Abd el-Fattah.
Can you tell the Prime Minister to show some climate leadership at COP27?

This summer we saw climate related disasters across the world. The UK witnessed an unprecedented heatwave and drought, but countries in the global south suffered the most - Pakistan was devastated by flooding, the Philippines hit by deadly typhoons and people in Somalia faced catastrophic famine. [3]
The climate crisis has arrived so we desperately need the Prime Minister to start showing climate leadership. He can make a start by leading negotiations at COP27 that help deliver the solutions needed for this unfolding emergency - please tell him to step up: [link removed]
Thanks for all that you do,
