John,
If Donald Trump runs for president again, CREW will be taking action to disqualify him under the 14th Amendment.
Trump incited an insurrection on January 6, 2021. He summoned a violent mob to the Capitol to interrupt the peaceful transition of power, despite swearing to uphold the Constitution. The evidence of his role in inciting the insurrection is so overwhelming that he has clearly disqualified himself from holding government office—in fact, it’s doubtful there would have been an insurrection without Donald Trump’s actions.
Read the letter we sent to Trump today—and then, consider donating to help ensure we’re ready for the work ahead.
CREW took on Trump hours after he took office in 2017. We tracked his corruption and took legal action to hold him accountable, exposed his and his administration’s disregard for the rule of law, and fought for reform. We’re no stranger to standing up to Trump’s abuses.
CREW has already successfully removed an insurrectionist from office, in the first successful use of the Disqualification Clause in court in 150 years. We’re no stranger to getting accountability for the insurrection.
But if Trump announces he’s running for president and we have to act to disqualify him, it will be our biggest fight yet. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the future of our democracy is at stake.
Help us prepare—contribute now to support us in the fight to protect our democracy.
Thank you,
Noah Bookbinder
President, CREW
