Councilmember Trayon White Meets With Jews United For Justice/Hand in Hand Group To Discuss Domestic Workers Bill.
On November 1st, Councilmember White connected with Jews United for Justice (JUFJ)/Hand in Hand group. They had a great discussion about the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights and shared Councilmember White's experiences with Domestic Workers.
Councilmember White is looking forward to scheduling more time to meet and discuss JUFJ's priorities for the coming year.

Bill 24-894, “Whitman-Walker Entities at St. Elizabeths Tax Rebate Amendment Act of 2022”

For nearly 50 years, Whitman-Walker has provided quality affordable healthcare, legal services, and youth and family support to District residents.
Whitman-Walker has consistently been a leader in providing targeted and affirming care to vulnerable groups, and was one of the first in the nation to provide extensive services to LGBTQ and HIV/AIDS patients.
This tax rebate will provide Whitman-Walker with the financial support to provide critical services to even more of our residents.

DC Council Votes to Extend Student COVID-19 Vaccine Deadline

The DC Council voted in favor of emergency legislation that would extend the deadline for students to receive their COVID-19 vaccine until September 2023.

Effective Immediately Proof of Vaccination Will Not Be Required To Enter

The Council has altered its policy regarding accessing the John A. Wilson Building. Effective immediately proof of vaccination will not be required to enter the building, however masks must be worn at all times in all common areas.
Building policy
1. Employee Access
- All employees (Council and Executive) must wear masks in the common areas of the building.
2. Public Access
- All visitors will be required to sign-in at the security check-points.
- Masks are required to enter the building and must be worn at all times in all common areas.
- Upon entry into the building, persons are free to move around unescorted but must wear masks.
All building tenants have been informed of this policy change. Our collective cooperation is imperative to ensure that we maintain a safe and healthy place of work for us and our visitors.

Councilmember Trayon White Host 2nd Annual Ward 8 Bike Ride in Partnership With Fresh Wind CDC.
On Saturday, October 29th, Councilmember White, in partnership with Fresh Wind CDC, hosted their 2nd annual Ward 8 Bike Ride.
It was a fun and active morning with the perfect weather for a 10-mile bike ride along the Oxon Run trails. Thank you so much to everyone who came and showed support. The day was a huge success.

Councilmember Trayon White in Partnership With Bullying Is Not Dope Served 2,000 Residents At Its 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat Event.
On October 29th, over 2,000+ families and over 50 community partners participated in the 2nd Annual Ward 8 Trunk and Treat. The event's motto: "Peace in Southeast," rang true as this was a fun and safe alternative for families to celebrate Halloween.
The event was led with love, unity, understanding, compassion, empathy and is the beginning of peaceful events we intend to hold throughout Ward 8.
