Dear John,
For me, our work at United for a Fair Economy is
personal — being an immigrant, a Latina, and a person who came to the
US thirty years ago to escape violence in El Salvador that was being
supported by US intervention. To be honest, it has been a hard year.
Dealing with increased anti-immigrant sentiment from the
administration and feeling heartbroken about the stories at the border
— like that of the father and his child from El Salvador who drowned
in the river trying to reach a better life in the US — it has been a
challenge for me.
However, I haven’t felt alone. Being part of this organization, I
have found community and benefited from UFE’s work that cultivates
healing and connection.
When it comes to solving the
systemic issues contributing to economic inequality
and the racial wealth divide, it's going to take all of
us.
With you, I am finding hope and taking inspiration. Why? Because I
know that transformation is possible.
Together, we can bring much-needed support — and so much more — to
communities across the country fighting for a fair economy in
2020.
Among the many things your gift will make possible in
2020:
-
More than 30 sustained partnerships, providing
customized popular economics curricula and support for organizations
that are mobilizing people today to change the rules that are stacked
against us.
-
Our State of the Dream 2020 report, which will put a
spotlight on pressing issues of gender, race and inequality.
-
Our Spring Training of Trainers in Minneapolis,
growing UFE’s impact in the Midwest.
-
Language justice, woven into everything we do. When
we create multilingual spaces to learn and grow together, we are
uplifting community leadership across language.
As you reflect back on everything that has happened in 2019, what
is making you angry? Where are you finding hope? What has helped you
believe that transformation is possible? Be
a part of the change we can make together and please give
generously to United for a Fair Economy today!
En la lucha,
Jeannette
