My District 6 roots run deep

I didn't just move to or rent a house in the district to be on the
ballot.

I am passionate about District 6 because I am District 6.

I am a Phoenix native and have lived in District 6 for most of my life.
My family's roots run deep in the community with our many decades of
public service and charities we support.

My grandmother, Sophia Kruglick, was the 2nd woman to be elected to the
Phoenix City Council from 1964-1968 and lived in the same district that
I would like to represent today. My great-grandmother and extended
family lived a few minutes from the district.

I am running for Phoenix City Council because I know the way to help
solve our kitchen table priorities, is to understand that our economic
and social issues are entwined. I believe the city and community must
work closely together so that we can achieve lasting results.

My grandmother understood this when she spoke at a conference in 1965.
This is her speech as reported in the Phoenix Gazette.

"City governments have the responsibility to provide social as well as
physical needs for the citizens.

**If we are to have the kind of city in which there is true freedom of
opportunity, the municipal government, in cooperation with the citizens,
must accept a continuing and growing responsibility in modifying the
social environment as well as the physical environment.**

**It is just as important for the City of Phoenix to be concerned with
the resources to eliminate delinquency as is for the city to have a good
water system. It is just as important for the city to see that there is
sound environment in which business may flourish as it is for the city
to have a good airport.**

**It is just as important for the city to play a role in helping the
city to expand the educational opportunities for all citizens as it is
for the city to have a good street improvement plan.**
In reality, the physical and social needs of a community are
inseparable."

                           Nana and me

My grandmother's words are still valid 57 years later. We can solve
the pressing problems of today when we include the social, physical, and
economic needs of our community as we work towards permanent solutions.

As your Councilwoman, I know we will have many conversations together
and priorities will be accomplished. I am confident when we work
together, we thrive together.

If you believe like I do that community involvement is very important,
can you send a donation of any amount right now? Your support will carry
us to Election Day, and I'm just so deeply grateful.

With your help (and vote if you live in the district) District 6 and
Phoenix will have a solution-oriented, community-focused, and
integrity-driven Councilwoman.

****Please share this email with your family, neighbors, and friends!

The amount isn't as important as the donation itself because it's
going to take a lot of people chipping in as much as they can to reach
our goal. A win this November is a win for our families and businesses.

Thank you for your trust and support,

Joan Greene
