Today, a mystery grips Scary Mommy. An unnamed editor recently reached over to the toilet paper roll and discovered an expectedly fancy touch: the perforations between sheets were now scalloped, rather than straight lines. “Her mind reeled: Is this a thing? And further, is there any actual utility to this design change? Does it, like, increase absorbency, or reduce the roll's carbon footprint or something? That is, does it have a point beyond mildly confusing people as they wipe?” writes Katie Arnold-Ratliff, who went digging at the editor's request.
Give it a read to learn what she found… and laugh your — ahem — butt off, also.
