Dear Friend,
Over the last four weeks, I've been traveling across our great state to talk with the people of Mississippi about what's important to them. Everywhere I go, Mississippians are worried about the critical issues facing our state: inflation, the economy, crime, and the border.
They all agree that it’s time for a change in Washington. If Republicans are in the majority when the 118th Congress convenes in January, we will focus on getting our country back on track.
One of the first votes I will cast in the new Congress will be to fire Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. We need strong, conservative leadership in the House of Representatives; and when Republicans retake the House, we will elect a Speaker who believes in the conservative values that will put our state and our nation back on the path to a bright and prosperous future. With a conservative Congress, we can take the steps needed to get our country back on the right track by focusing on implementing the Commitment to America — the Republican plan for the new Congress.
The first pillar in the Commitment to America is building an economy that's strong. America is facing the highest rate of inflation in 40 years. The last time our nation battled inflation rates this high, President Ronald Reagan had just taken office with the mission to make America great again. He started his mission by tackling inflation. His plan involved implementing the common-sense, conservative principles of cutting government spending, reducing the tax burden, and slashing government regulations. These conservative ideals lifted our country out of a period of high inflation, and Republicans will focus on reimplementing those proven fiscally conservative policies in the new year.
Another pillar in our Commitment to America is to create a nation that's safe. It's time to get tough on crime again, and that starts by securing our southwest border and supporting local law enforcement agents. In 2019, Republicans addressed an immigration crisis in a matter of months by focusing on border security and implementing policies like the Remain in Mexico Policy. When we retake the House, Republicans will remain committed to the proven policies that have worked in the past to secure our border.
Finally, with a Republican majority, we will be able to hold this Administration accountable through Congressional hearings. The American people have lost faith in government institutions under the Biden Administration, and they deserve answers. We need to know if this Administration is abusing its power for political purposes, provide transparency into the decisions made by President Biden's appointees, and conduct rigorous oversight. Republicans are committed to restoring faith in government institutions, and that starts by holding this Administration accountable for its failures.
This is a pivotal moment in our nation's history. That's why I'm asking you to share this message with three of your friends or family members to let them know what Republicans plan to do in the majority if we win back the House of Representatives. I want to thank you for your continued readership and support. In the new Congress, I will continue to work hard every day to make you and our state proud.
