From the beginning of this campaign, when we started running in the special election, pundits doubted whether a Democrat could win our upstate New York seat. Republican super PACs spent millions of dollars on ads attacking me, and poll after poll showed us losing.

But when we won in August, we sent a strong message to the rest of the country: Voters aren’t going to back down from the fight to protect our democracy, to defend reproductive freedoms, and to deliver desperately-needed economic relief.

That election in August, and our upcoming election in less than one week, are about our safety, our freedoms, and our future.

We are facing an opponent who is a direct threat to our freedoms. Someone so extreme, he wants to jail doctors who provide abortions, even in the case of rape or incest.

Colin Schmitt is bank-rolled by insurrectionists and traitors and cheered on a busload of protesters on their way to DC on January 6.

He stood by silently as kids were getting gunned down in schools, on our streets, and at grocery stores.

Voters made it clear in August and will once again make it clear: We aren’t going backward. We’re not going to let the assault on our freedoms, safety, and future continue.
