Hello Friend,
Welcome to my e-newsletter, the Ready Room. As a retired Naval Aviator, the Ready Room is special to me because it’s where fellow aviators meet to brief and debrief missions. This is my weekly briefing to you on my mission in Congress. Please follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how my team and I are working to serve you in Congress.
Supporting Border Security
The Biden administration's open borders policy continues to wreak havoc on our nation and our state. The fiscal year that ended October 30th saw records shattered for encounters with illegal immigrants, migrant deaths, apprehensions of suspected terrorists, and seizures of fentanyl at the southern border. We've experienced the results here in Florida, with violent cartel members and drugs flowing ceaselessly into our communities. In response, I joined my colleagues on the House Committee on Oversight and Reform in demanding Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas provide documents and information outlining the Biden administration's plan to fix our border security problem. This most recent demand letter follows 15 others, which have so far gone ignored. Congress has a duty to provide oversight of the executive branch and the American people have a right to know what is going on in their government. I will continue to fight to fulfill this obligation as your representative, and when Republicans retake control of the House, there WILL be accountability. Click here to read the letter.
Supporting America's Future in Cybersecurity
It was an honor to join retired General Frank McKenzie, the former commander of U.S. Central Command, at a cybersecurity event for Polk and Hillsborough County high school students last week. Cyber Florida hosted this important event on the campus of the University of South Florida, where we discussed the critical role cybersecurity plays in our increasingly interconnected world. Fostering young people's interest in this field is critical to our national security. I look forward to watching their progress as they continue to prepare for their careers. Thank you to Cyber Florida for hosting this important event.
