John,
We know next Tuesday is a momentous day, as millions of Americans go to cast their votes in one of the most consequential midterm elections of our lifetimes. But what happens after?
Regardless of the election outcome, we’ll still be here fighting for resources for vulnerable communities. And when our elected officials return to Washington, D.C. after next Tuesday, they’ll get to work on a must-pass end-of-year spending bill. We’re making sure that critical investments to child care and early education are included.
Too many families struggle to find and afford high-quality child care that meets their needs, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated these challenges.
We’ve already sent more than 22,000 messages to members of Congress urging them to invest in child care and early education and we need to keep up the pressure. Join us and our allies in demanding Congress include child care and early education funding in the end-of-year spending bill! Click here to take action now.
Increased annual appropriations will be critical to ensure we build on recent relief investments and continue on the road to economic recovery. The dire effects of the pandemic will be felt for years to come and without it, we risk backsliding, further perpetuating instability in our early learning system.
Families have been greatly harmed by the pandemic, including massive disruptions to children’s academic achievement and challenges to parents’ abilities to remain in the workforce due to a lack of high-quality, affordable child care and early education. Without adequate federal appropriations, we will not be able to close the widening gaps by income and race.
Congress must make critical investments in child care and early education to support children and working families at this difficult time. Click here to write a letter to your members of Congress telling them to act now!
Thank you for all you do,
Deborah Weinstein Executive Director, Coalition on Human Needs
