New: CMS Releases Open Enrollment Guides for Immigrants – Available in 15 Languages |
Open Enrollment for the federal Health Care Marketplace started Tuesday (November 1) and CMS has a new resource, Health Coverage Options for Immigrants, available in 15 languages other than English: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Gujarati, Haitian-Creole, Hindi, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, Urdu, and Vietnamese. The resource describes immigrant eligibility rules for the marketplace, Medicaid, CHIP, and Medicare coverage with a focus on overcoming particular barriers that immigrants and their families may face. It also provides information about documents that can be used to verify immigration status, applying for coverage on behalf of family members, resolving data matching problems. It also includes requirements and best practices for working with immigrants, such as the legal requirement to provide interpretation and written translation free of charge and tips for consumer assisters when working with immigrants and their family members.

The National Immigration Law Center released a new Know Your Rights resource to help immigrants and undocumented people navigate questions and concerns about accessing abortion care following the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade reversal. PIF's Community Education Working Group worked with NILC to develop the resource. |

ICYMI: CMS Communications Toolkit - Steps to Take NOW to Renew Medicaid and CHIP |
CMS published a Medicaid and CHIP Continuous Enrollment Unwinding Toolkit, with tools translated into six languages (Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Tagalog, and Vietnamese) to help get the word out about the Medicaid and CHIP Continuous Enrollment unwinding and steps to take now. The toolkit includes easy to use social media graphics and an attractive flyer that reminds people to update their mailing address, watch for a renewal notice, and open their mail.

Partner Highlight: First Focus on Children |
First Focus on Children has updated their policy brief on the public charge rule. With a focus on the approximately 1-in-4 children in the United States who have an immigrant parent, the brief examines the impact of the public charge policy on children and their families. This excellent background document provides a clear overview of public charge and can be used in PIF partner advocacy and education with policymakers, communicators, and others.
