You have less than a week left to vote in the 2022 general election. The very last day is Tuesday, November 8—but see below for important details on that. Don’t wait if you can help it, because early voting is easy voting, and there’s plenty of work to do to help build a new Blue Wave for 2022.
** Our statement on the alleged attack at Speaker Pelosi’s home

We peaceably seek change through truth, earnest debate, nonviolent protest, elections, and the courts.
The alleged attempted attack on Speaker Pelosi at her house subverts all of that in favor of violence motivated by lies. Violence like this is part of the ongoing MAGA threat to our democracy.
Speaker Pelosi and her family are in our hearts as we wish Paul Pelosi a speedy and full recovery from his injuries.
As we work toward this Election Day, and every Election Day, let us join together as Americans and shape the future of our country as one nation, working together for a better future for all of us.

Last Chance to Vote!
------------------------------------------------------------
If you haven’t voted yet, time’s running out. Now is the best time to start filling out your ballot. If you fill out your ballot at home, you can just drop it off!
Got questions about what’s on your ballot? We have an explainer on the state and City propositions ([link removed]) . We also have a list of voter guides on our Vote ([link removed]) page.
We also have step-by-step instructions ([link removed]) on filling out your ballot, including a checklist to make sure you don’t miss any essential steps. In particular:
* Remember to sign your return envelope! If you don’t, your ballot will be challenged and you will have to fill out a form to have your vote counted.
* If you’re going to mail your ballot back, put it in the mail by Monday to ensure that it will be postmarked in time. If you mail it too late on Tuesday, it will be postmarked Wednesday and will not count. Put it in the mail by Monday, or else use a drop box or drop it off at City Hall or any polling place.
* Track your ballot! You can check on your ballot’s status on the SF Voter Portal ([link removed]) , or sign up for email or text notifications through California’s Where’s My Ballot? ([link removed]) system.
Not registered to vote? You can still vote with conditional voter registration. Register at a voting center now, or at any polling place on Election Day, Tuesday Nov. 8. Read more details on the SF Elections website. ([link removed])
If you plan on voting in person, it’s a good idea to add the California Democratic Party’s Voter Protection Team ([link removed]) hotline to your phone: 1-877-321-VOTE. We don’t expect to have trouble voting in the City, but if you know any other Democratic voters voting in person in another California county, you may want to pass that info along to them so they’ll have it ready in case they need it. For voters outside of California, give them 1-866-OUR-VOTE, which is Election Protection ([link removed]) ’s hotline.
** Remember: We won’t know the results November 9

It takes time to do important jobs right. Counting our votes is no exception.
On the evening of Election Day and in the days after, we will hear race calls and preliminary results. Some will be landslides and probably pretty safe to assume will hold. Other, narrower victories may shift or even flip once all the votes get counted.
It is vitally important to a healthy democracy that we count every vote. That work takes time and it takes patience.
Turn off the news if you need to, and remember to celebrate our victories, both the ones that are clear on Election Night and the ones that take time to settle, and appreciate all the hard work that folks like yourself have done to build them.
** Final push to Get Out the Vote

Besides voting, another way you can help build a new Blue Wave for 2022 is to reach out to voters elsewhere and make sure they cast their ballots. You have a range of options:
* Talk to your family, friends, and neighbors. Have they voted? Do they have questions? Point them to our handy Vote! ([link removed]) page which has step-by-step ballot instructions, drop-off locations, and help lines, as well as links to voting guides.
* Have you ever phone banked? Now is the time to try! There are opportunities to phone bank in person and from home below.
* Not a phone person? Try canvassing! Canvassing is going door-to-door to talk to voters face-to-face. You get the same engaging conversations as phone banking, along with fresh air and exercise. Like phone banking, canvassing is particularly potent in these last couple weeks. Bring a friend and go out on your route together!
** Student loan relief: You can still apply for one-time relief!

Public Service Loan Forgiveness ([link removed]) still exists, but the expanded eligibility to apply expired on October 31. It’s back to the normal eligibility criteria.
Meanwhile, you can still apply for one-time relief ([link removed]) of up to $10,000 or $20,000, even though a federal appeals court (stacked with Trump appointees) has placed a stay on the program. Your application will be processed when the program reopens.
Don’t miss your chance to get all the relief you’re eligible for:
* The Department of Education is working on a new income-driven repayment plan that won’t increase your balance as long as you make your minimum payments.
* Borrowers who got fleeced by certain for-profit schools will be able to apply to have entire loans canceled.
* And, oh yeah, there’s that $10,000 or $20,000 of one-time forgiveness.
