John, I wanted to forward you a message that Josh Shapiro sent on June 24, 2022 — the day Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court. It still hurts to think that women across the nation no longer have access to vital reproductive health care and can’t make decisions about their own bodies. But I just had to send this to you again today to remind you of what’s at stake in this election. The next Governor of Pennsylvania will have the power to decide if abortion remains legal here. Let’s make sure we elect a pro-choice Governor in Josh Shapiro. Donate right now to fuel his fight to defend our abortion access in the last 6 days of this election. Thanks, Dana Fritz P.S. Read Josh’s original message below: ———————FWD——————— From: Josh Shapiro John, it’s official: Roe v. Wade has been overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court. It’s been a hard few weeks since this decision was leaked, but now it’s real — and I’m sure you’re angry, frustrated, and scared about what this means. I am too. But this decision means the next Governor will have the ability to sign — or veto — that legislation. John, I will veto any bill that restricts a woman’s right to choose — and with today’s news, we know that’s going to be one of the most consequential decisions our next Governor makes. You probably know a grandparent, aunt, parent, sibling, or even yourself who marched for the right to choose fifty years ago, before Roe v. Wade became the law of the land. I’ve met people who marched back then — people who are furious and tired that they have to do this all over again for something they thought was set in stone — a right that we all thought would be protected forever. I want you to know that I’m furious too. That I will not ever back down from protecting the right to choose in Pennsylvania — from protecting women’s lives. Due to the Supreme Court’s decision, each and every state will decide whether the women who reside there can have an abortion. So with a Republican Legislature that’s tried time and time again to restrict abortion access (even through a constitutional amendment), we can be certain they’ll send a bill severely limiting abortion access in Pennsylvania to the desk of the next Governor. These past few weeks have been tough — but I know that we have the voice, the strength, and the determination to keep abortion access legal in Pennsylvania. Together, we can do this. Josh Shapiro |
