Smiles

There are two teams in professional sports that I am fanatical about: the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles. I’m finally able to enjoy baseball again because the Os are suddenly competitive! Baseball is also great for me right now because while I’m not a fan per se, my family is from Philadelphia and I was born there. The first baseball game I attended was in the '70s at Veterans Stadium—Phillies v. Cubs and I’ll never forget it.

This current World Series matchup is exciting. Both the Phils and the Houston Astros are superbly constructed teams that are playing at their peak. The Phillies are full of characters and led by the phenomenal 2-time MVP Bryce Harper and the ‘Stros are led by 2-time Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander, former MVP Jose Altuve, and Alex Bregman, the leader for most postseason home runs for a third baseman in history. Bregman in my mind is also the best Jewish baseball player since Sandy Koufax.

The Series is tied 1-1 going into Philly for Game 3. The stage is set for an electrifying competition. I have to say that FOX Sports does an amazing job at producing the series and keeping the energy up. In fact, they even have a senior vice president of Production and Talent Development at FOX Sports, Jacob Ullman, who has initiated the network to play some of the best “bumper music” you will ever hear in and out of innings when the broadcast goes to commercial. Ullman is a big Deadhead and it’s not uncommon to hear songs like the Dead’s “Throwing Stones” during the broadcast—which makes the experience even more electric
