John – Today is an important day for our family.

Exactly five years ago today, on November 1, 2017, the adoption was finalized and Parker, Robert and I officially became a family.

I had served as a foster parent for years. I met my sons when Robert came into my care and I learned his little brother was due to be adopted by another family – permanently separating them.

For months I fought like hell to stop the adoption and keep the boys together. Parker joined his big brother in my foster care, and I proceeded to formally adopt them so they would never be separated again.

Here’s my pledge to you, John: I will fight for Idaho just like I fought for my boys. I will always put the needs of the people and the greater good ahead of outside interests.

I will always do what is right, even if it’s difficult. Because the right thing is always worth doing.

If you’re ready for a Senator who will truly fight for YOUR family, will you pitch in $25, $50, or even $100 now to help me flip this U.S. Senate seat?

When I decided to run for Senate, it was a family decision. I knew this campaign would impact their lives as well. It would mean us having less time together, as well as more pressure and scrutiny on our family.

It was important to me that they understood what it meant, and that we made the decision together.

My sons have been so strong and courageous throughout the whole process. I couldn’t be more proud of them.

November 1st, 2017 was one of the best days of my life, and every day since it keeps getting better.

I didn’t set out to become an adoptive parent, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

My boys have challenged me and made me grow in ways I never could have anticipated. I am forever grateful that they made me a dad.

Wherever this journey takes us, I’m so glad we will travel that road as a family.

Happy Adoption Day, Robert and Parker! I love you both so much.

- David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running to flip a U.S. Senate seat in Idaho. His opponent is an extremist “pro-life” Republican who’s been in politics for 37 years. David stepped up to serve the state that has been his home most of his life, where he is now raising his two young sons, because every state is worth fighting for. There has never been an openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate. Help us make history this year. Pitch in now to flip this seat and send David to D.C.
