** Only one day left to make the most absurd alarmist prediction for the decade.
------------------------------------------------------------
The Guardian ([link removed]) (2/21/04) predicted: "Climate change over the next 20 years could result in a global catastrophe costing millions of lives in wars and natural disasters. A secret report, suppressed by US defense chiefs and obtained by The Observer, warns that major European cities will be sunk beneath rising seas as Britain is plunged into a 'Siberian' climate by 2020. Nuclear conflict, mega-droughts, famine, and widespread rioting will erupt across the world. The document predicts that abrupt climate change could bring the planet to the edge of anarchy as countries develop a nuclear threat to defend and secure dwindling food, water, and energy supplies. The threat to global stability vastly eclipses that of terrorism, say the few experts privy to its contents...An imminent scenario of catastrophic climate change is 'plausible and would challenge United States national security in ways that should be considered
immediately', they conclude. As early as next year widespread flooding by a rise in sea levels will create major upheaval for millions."

** "We are about to wrap up another year. Another decade. America’s energy renaissance has only begun. A new era of oil is here, and I have never looked forward to the arrival of a new decade as I do today."

============================================================

A quick highlight reel for anyone who had better things to listen to.

Even though its fake news, the consequences can be all too real.

** The Daily Mail ([link removed])
(12/29/19) reports: "The outgoing boss of BP has revealed some of his daughter's friends in California are on antidepressants because of their worries over climate change. Bob Dudley, who is to step down as chief executive in February, admitted he hated seeing 'young people so unhappy, so anxious' about the impact of global warming from increasing carbon emissions...Mr Dudley, 64, said his daughter, a social worker in California, demanded of him: 'How you can work for a company that in five years won't be selling petrol?' He said: 'I wish the young people today would get more involved in energy — actually getting involved, whether it's renewables or not.' 'Because it's the easiest job to throw rocks. It is just such fun. But you have to have some responsibility for these things and that's not what everybody's doing.' Mr Dudley added that he hated seeing young people so anxious and that his daughter told him people around her are on antidepressants."

We are obviously thankful that nobody got hurt. But can we all agree that it would be sweet irony if this car belonged to AOC?

** CNN ([link removed])
(12/30/19) reports: "A recently installed wind turbine came crashing down in a New York City neighborhood, causing a chain reaction on Monday. As the turbine in the Bronx partially collapsed, it smashed into an adjacent three-sided illuminated billboard, causing that also to break apart and come tumbling down to the street and cars below. Pictures from the scene shot by Tori McCauseland with The Co-op City Times show a massive pole lying across a mangled car. 'Thankfully we can report that there are no injuries, and everyone is safe and sound,' New York Mayor Bill de Blasio told CNN affiliate WABC. 'An investigation into how this incident happened is underway.' The wind turbine, which is more than 150 feet tall, was installed in mid-December but had not yet been activated, according to WABC. Debris was strewn across the shopping center below that houses a gas station, pharmacy, paint store and other businesses. All the stores were evacuated, according to the New York City Department of
Buildings (DOB)."
