John,
At CREW, we never stop fighting for our democracy.
Last week, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace made that clear—while interviewing CREW President Noah Bookbinder, she highlighted many of CREW’s recent investigations and legal victories, saying, “You may or may not have heard the name CREW before...but you have certainly come across and benefitted from their good work.” If you missed Noah’s appearance, watch it here. >>
Noah was on MSNBC to talk about our recent call for a Congressional investigation into Ginni and Clarence Thomas, for her efforts to overturn the 2020 election, and his failure to recuse from related cases before the Supreme Court. We’ve been calling for months for Ginni Thomas to be removed from the board of the Library of Congress Trust Fund, given her role in trying to overturn the 2020 election. You can join us in pushing for President Biden to remove her by signing now.
But that’s not all we did last week:
- We also broke the news, based on Secret Service records we obtained, that the Secret Service received a shooting threat against Majority Leader Chuck Schumer while the Capitol was under attack on January 6.
-
We filed a complaint with the FEC about a network of dark money groups focused on Florida that appear to have violated campaign finance law by funneling over $1 million to super PACs through their organizations in 2020, in an apparent effort to hide the original source of the donations.
-
Along with 80 groups ranging from the AFL-CIO and Greenpeace to Transparency International and Human Rights Watch, we sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Schumer calling for them to ensure the ENABLERS Act, a critical piece of anti-corruption legislation, is passed as part of the upcoming defense bill.
And yes, that was all just last week. If you think CREW’s work is valuable, we hope you’ll consider sharing it with others! Take a second to forward this email to friends who might be interested, and invite them to sign up for updates or follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and share our posts—spreading the word about CREW’s work is one of the best ways to help us as we fight to protect our democracy.
Thank you,
The CREW Team
