Dear John,
Today, the far Left wants to force faithful believers to embrace a secular worldview on marriage, gender, sexuality, and human life in the womb. Their tactic is to isolate and intimidate Christians with the clear message: conform or suffer the consequences.
But as God's people, we know this battle "is not against flesh and blood" (Ephesians 6:12). We speak the truth not to win political or cultural debates but to see people set free through the transformative power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
When FRC began in 1983, most could not imagine a day when our cultural and political elites would attempt to completely redefine marriage to accommodate the world's "anything goes" philosophy towards sexuality.
In 1996, the Defense of Marriage Act, which recognized natural marriage in federal law, was approved by overwhelming bipartisan majorities in both chambers of Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton.
Now, the Senate is considering the so-called Respect for Marriage Act, which would:
- Repeal the Defense of Marriage Act,
- Codify the Obergefell same-sex marriage decision into federal law and thereby expand the definition of marriage,
- Increase the threat of legal liability for those who decline to affirm this expanded definition,
- Threaten the tax-exempt status of faith-based non-profits, and
- Legislatively cement policy that is harmful to children!
"For seven years, we have watched the fallout from Obergefell: Religious freedom is under assault, and gender ideologues are pushing sexual confusion onto kindergarteners," Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) warned in The Washington Stand. "Let's not make things worse by reaffirming the Court's abuse of power. Let's learn from it and correct it. Let's uphold the truth that marriage is the union of one man and one woman."
This dangerous bill that they want to move during the lame duck session would further exacerbate already existing attacks on religious liberty. So much is at stake. Now is the time to stand and take action!
Will you give your most generous gift today to ensure that FRC has the resources to protect natural marriage and the family?
DONATE NOW
Having been the author of the first covenant marriage bill in the nation when I was a Louisiana state legislator, I have long seen that supporting marriage is fundamental for both families and society to flourish.
Strengthening biblical values starts with you and your voice in the public square!
"God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not change," declared Barry McKeen, the school administrator and pastor of Grace Community Church in Valrico, Florida, which is under fire for its school policy that upholds biblical sexuality.
Grace Christian School received thousands of calls and threats after an article by NBC News published several paragraphs of an email McKeen sent to parents, committing to biblical views on sexuality and gender.
Despite NBC and others calling the school hateful, Pastor McKeen published a video that insisted the school would not back away from its commitment to follow the Bible. After a barrage of threats, parents of students showed up on Sunday morning to support the school's biblical values and well-wishers from around the country donated to the school. One supporter attached a note to a $5,000 check that read, "Stay strong, keep the faith."
Pastor McKeen reflected on this outpouring of encouragement to his school during FRC's 2022 Pray Vote Stand Summit. "We are so strong together, as believers, if we just get behind each other," he said.
Be encouraged: there are millions of parents, pastors, and believers who are standing for truth. And there are likewise many concerned citizens who see the moral decay in the culture and are searching for answers. Those opposed to truth can only win if we give in to their tactics of intimidation designed to silence.
Despite the far Left's agenda, our mission to advance faith, family, and freedom remains steadfast. Will you partner with FRC today to reach more Americans with biblical perspective on the issues facing our nation?
PARTNER WITH FRC
As Christians, our biblical worldview can and should guide not only how we worship, but also the way we live, work, and engage our communities. And we must use our freedoms and constitutional rights to defend it for ourselves and other believers like Pastor McKeen who find themselves the targets of cultural attacks!
However, these religious freedom attacks extend beyond Christians. Other Americans of sincere convictions and faith are finding themselves in the far Left's crosshairs.
Yeshiva University, the oldest Jewish college in the United States, sought relief from the U.S. Supreme Court after being sued by the LGBT student group YU Pride Alliance for recognition as an official student group of the university. These student activists are attempting to use the courts to force the Jewish school to change its religious values, which are rooted in the Torah.
FRC's assistant director of the Center for Religious Liberty, Arielle Del Turco, warned that if "mainstream culture increasingly rejects Judeo-Christian values, these types of challenges to religious freedom will only increase."
Since the Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell decision redefined marriage--the central institution in human society--leftists have seized the opportunity to elevate radical sexual "rights" above religious liberty. But take heart. God always calls a remnant for such a time as this.
While culture rejects biblical truth--stand faithful! He will sustain you (Psalm 55:22).
So, stay strong, keep the faith, and together let's strengthen the remnant to build a culture that embraces biblical principles and protects religious freedom TODAY and for future generations. Thank you for your faithfulness.
