Hi Jack,
I’ve been battling the: “My vote doesn’t matter” line for a while now!
Here’s why that couldn’t be further from the truth!
We see local races determined by less than 30 votes all the time – and then those leaders go on to pass laws that impact our entire state and pick on the most vulnerable members of our community.
In the last legislative session, our representatives voted to:
- Pass stand-your-ground laws despite mountains of evidence that Black and brown communities are disproportionately impacted.
- Let healthcare workers deny you services if they disagree with you.
- Take away parents’ rights to help their children with gender dysphoria get the medical care they need despite every major medical association agreeing that gender-affirming healthcare IS lifesaving healthcare.
- Give HUGE tax cuts for our wealthiest Arkansans.
So to say your vote doesn’t matter is not true – and don’t even get me started on the whole “Arkansas is a Red state” voter disenfranchisement tactic.
Arkansas is a non-voting state – we’re literally the WORST in the nation.
In the last election, more than ONE MILLION registered voters didn’t vote, and you can’t tell me we can’t make positive changes in our communities if we can motivate those voters to the polls.
We have one week left – and if we can reach the voters we need and show them that their vote does matter, we can win.
But voter apathy is high, and it will take all of us. If you can volunteer, reply to this email, and we’ll get you all set up. If you can’t volunteer but still want to help, you can rush a contribution of any amount to help us elect leaders with our best interests at heart.
Positive change is possible. We need you with us, though.
Let’s do this, y’all. Keep tagging @kellyforarkansas on Instagram with your “I voted” selfies!
